I previously owned the 2007 60" Pioneer Elite 720p set and loved every minute of it. It was by far the best PDP panel out there-PERIOD. Then came along the new "Kuro" line which Pioneer engineers built from the ground up. I didn't think there would be a difference between my '07 version and this new set. In a nutshell-WOW! It does live up to it's "Kuro" line name which means black in Japanese.
Because my viewing distance was less than 7 feet I knew that newer version would benefit me, I just didn't know how much better the picture quality improved. I watch mostly HD content from Directv HD channel lineup and OTA HD signals but the real benefit comes from HD DVD content such as Blu ray playback and with the support of true 1080p/24fps playback the picture is outstanding. Even 480i/480p content such as DVD's look great and will better if you have a true 1080p up-conversion player for the SD's.
However one key and understated feature Pioneer has come through on is the PureCinema Smooth Film Motion mode, it essentially eliminates all jutter/motion using a 3:2 Pulldown which makes film very natural looking and smooth playback. It has 4 HDMI 1.3a connections which is good especially nowadays when you have multiple devices with HDMI. I can go on forever praising the quality, color accuracy, deeper blacks, and remarkable high definition viewing experience, but check it out for yourself and if you have the deep pockets this TV is the best bar none in the market today..and yes that includes the washed out LCD sets too.

Even my wife, who doesn't usually notice the differences between HDTVs was amazed at the picture quality of this unit. The 60" size is a good fit for our large family room, and the 1080p resolution looks great for closer movie viewing. Compared to other brands, this unit performs some of the best scaling of 480i SD and DVD sources. The color adjustment options are very flexible, without requiring use of the service menu.
The shipping company took one extra day to deliver the unit to my house, so I had to stay at home an extra day. The rest of the delivery went quite smoothly however, and the box and unit inside were in perfect condition.

This plasma TV is the best plasma on the market right now. The picture is simply amazing. We originally purchased the 50" version and exchanged it for the 60" and have no regrets, bigger is better! I am glad that we waited for Pioneer to introduce this true 1080 Kuro. You cannot find a more true 1080 picture. We also purchased the 1080 blu ray from pioneer and the picture with the two units together is the best money can buy![...]
