Comments about Canon Canon PowerShot Black 14.7 Megapixel Digital Camera With Case And SD Card:

This camera has every known feature and the controls are well thought out for direct access. This is a serious point and shoot model. It is not small nor light-weight, but I do prefer this size and weight because I can keep the camera steady and the controls are large enough for easy operation. The Canon case that comes with the Abt package is the original factory model and it has a belt loop, but no storage for a spare card. The case is a semi-hard case. The camera fits snuggly and I think the case would protect the camera very well from impact. Because it is cushioned, it's bulkier than the soft case that Canon had for the G9.The shutter lag is not noticeable or objectionable. There is a period after the picture is taken while it's transferred to the card. This is comparable to other cameras in this class. Some reviewers object to the picture quality in low light images. This can be dealt with by using the camera in the "Programmed" mode as opposed to the "Auto" mode. The programmed mode allows you to set the ASA setting and reduce picture noise to any level you can tolerate (at the expense of the shutter speed and/or aperture settings).A pleasant surprise is that my G10 was actually made in Japan! If this camera is over your price range, consider the Canon SX110 IS. It offers similar features, except that the wide-angle range is limited to 35mm equivalent as opposed to 28mm on the G10. The SX110 does however have an astonishing (optical) tele-photo range. If you like to take wild life pictures, the SX110 may be better for you.Cons:- It seems that the basic camera comes from the factory without a memory card! The Abt package adds the card and the Canon case, but this is also reflected in their price. This package (camera, case and SD card) was the right combination for me.- The operating manual is a low cost production in small type. I suggest going to [@] and watching the superb videos instead of reading the entire manual cover to cover.- For those who use the view finder, it does not accurately represent the field of the picture. I only use the viewfinder when I can't see the LCD, so this is not a big problem for me.- A spare battery from Canon is expensive, there are however cheaper copies available.- My previous camera (Olympus) came with an infra-red remote control which I used a lot. The Canon only has an optional wired remote.
