this camera has been great for taking shots of the outdoors and around the house. I have been disappointed with picture quality in close up shots in which detail is important. There is a lot of blurriness and photo correction using a computer application doesn't really clean up the shot very well. For ease of use I would say that this camera is great, but don't expect too much if you crave clear detail shots , especially using the zoom feature.I intended to use this camera for both photographing subject matter to paint, and also to photograph my paintings. Great for the subject matter, not at all great for the paintings.

I purchased this camera to be a replacement for an older camera, a Cannon Powershot S50, purchased back in 2003. This camera, while compact, feels fine in the hand and takes decent pictures in low-light situations. It definitely takes better indoor pictures than the Cannon S50 (the flash on the S50 was horrible), but it is in the detail of the pictures that I am dissapointed. I was expecting that the image quality would be just as good, if not better than my 6 year old digital, which was only a 5 megapixel camera. If you are just interested in a point and shoot and are not that particular about image quality, then this camera will do the trick. If you are looking for something that takes sharp pictures in a pocket-size camera, you may need to look eslewhere.
