The product works great and it is really high quality product from Sony. It really is a Sony quality product.
The product is much better than a steady shot product, but it is not one SLR, what really it is nice, since you have qualities of both in the product.
I would say that if you want much better quality than steady shot cameras, but you still want to learn before you move to SLR this is the product.
A lot of options, modes, clear pictures, high quality lenses, good camaera body in terms of strengh, nice LCD.
The flash and some of the handle is not the best. I would say that this could be improved.
There limitations about the lenses, zoom, etc.. but htis is part of the choice of not have one SLR.
I did not like the camera case from Sony, I bought the LCJ - HD, to complicated, recommendation from Sony website and they case is to big, to difficult to open. I really rate it, but now I have it.
The rest it is great product.

The Sony H9 is an awesome camera. it has 8 MP. it also has 16x9 (widescreen high-def). I love the manual zoom. the problem is that b/c it's not an SLR, it's too slow for fast-moving objects. the
15x zoom is excellent for almost any setting.
the nightshot is good for closer images. the nightshot should not be used in movies i tried it and it just looks wierd, sort of depixelated.
I love the image stabilization. it is extremely good and instead of the jerky motion you get this floating feeling.
Another awesome feature is the manual shutter exposure setting. it goes from 1/4000 second, to 30 seconds. although i experienced a problem. i can never go further than 7 seconds, because the picture becomes overexposed.i just wish that there was an ISO lower than 80, so that i could go further. would probably work better with a darker enviroment and no street lights.
The 3" flip out screen is awesome and just huge. it helps to film having the camera low around the waist and seeing the screen, so that you don't attract attention or seem rude at weddings and other occasions, and it won't be intrusive.
The hood lens is nice, but make sure to read the instrucions on how to put it on. it's very easy but you have to align two marks, otherwise you can't put it on. the hood lens is visible in pictures and video, until you use 1.4x zoom.
I love the movie mode because you have three choices.
#1 is 320 pixels (long side) and 16fps.
#2 is 640 pixels (long side) and 16fps
#3 is 640 pixels (long side) and 30fps
the last one can only be used with a memory stick.
the camera has 31Mb of internal memory. it is very nice for a begginer. i mean i'm still waiting to buy a memory stick (which is also compatible with a PSP so you can watch the photos there) but this is doing a great job.
there is also the factor of involuntarily pushing buttons while carrying the camera the most common thing is that one second i'm at 1x zoom. i go somethere and i look at the screen and it's at 15 zoom. it's not really a big deal to me. a cool zoom feature is that it has 2 zoom speeds
I know this is off topic, but from what i heard and have read, if you want to buy a memory stick for this camera, you should go with a 2Gb max, because people say that the 4Gb was supposedly slow.

I'm a mixed event user. The DSCH9 is fairly light, for it's size, good battery life, good resolution, handy remote control, love the tilt LCD screen.

awesome camera. used it for a dance recital and a graduation. the pics turned out super! love how close up you can get..and the screen is WOW. not a camera to lug around DisneyWorld but is the best for close up pics when you are stuck on the last aisle...only downside is that the battery doesn't stay charged as long as i would like ...so now I have two batteries...
