McIntosh 1-Channel Vacuum Tube Power Amplifier - MC2301
McIntosh MC2301 1-Channel Vacuum Tube Power Amplifier
The new McIntosh MC2301 monoblock tube amplifier hails the fusion of our Unity Coupled and Quad-Differential circuit topologies. From the inception of McIntosh Labs, Unity Coupling stands as one of the premiere tube topologies ever conceived, making possible revolutionary power bandwidth and low distortion. Quad-Differential circuitry, a recent McIntosh innovation, cancels nearly all inherent noise and circuit-born nonlinearities resulting in the lowest noise levels ever achieved in a tube amplifier. With 300 Watts available at 8, 4 or 2 ohms, the MC2301 provides power enough to drive even the most demanding loudspeakers. From the demands of massed chorale to full-on rock and roll, the MC2301 delivers the most extraordinarily lifelike and dynamic performance ever heard from a McIntosh tube amplifier.
The MC2301 design is fully balanced from input to speaker output and is the first ever McIntosh tube amplifier to include Quad-Differential circuitry. A blend of tube and solid state devices comprise a super-linear input stage and the output stage, based upon eight KT88 power tubes, terminates in a custom multifilar wound output transformer providing very low distortion and wide power bandwidth. The result? A staggering 117dB signal to noise ratio combined with vanishingly low distortion to provide remarkable low-level linearity and unmatched liquidity.
Features
- Exclusive McIntosh Power Assurance System
A collection of technologies that enhance performance and reliability while protecting the amplifier and loudspeakers. - Sentry Monitor® Tube Protection
Fuse-less short-circuit protection circuit disengages the output stage before current exceeds safe operating level – resets automatically. - Unity Coupled Output Circuit®
Output power is taken from both the plate and cathode of the output tubes. Conventional designs only take output from the latter. This allows ½ the turns ratio, or ¼ the impedance transformation of conventional designs. The result is much lower distortion, wider bandwidth and increased loudspeaker damping factor. - WattMeter
Swift, accurate response reveals program peaks so staying within the power limits of your loudspeakers is easy

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The amplifier delivers a powerful 300 watts continuous average sine wave output into 8, 4, or 2 ohm loads, making it suitable for driving demanding loudspeakers with high fidelity and dynamic performance.
-
Featuring Quad-Differential circuitry, the amplifier cancels nearly all inherent noise and circuit nonlinearities, achieving extremely low distortion of only 0.5% maximum harmonic distortion and an impressive 117dB signal to noise ratio for clear, crisp sound.
-
The amplifier is equipped with a Sentry Monitor tube protection circuit that is fuse-less and provides automatic short-circuit protection by disengaging the output stage if current exceeds safe operating levels, enhancing both performance and reliability.
-
It supports two balanced inputs with high input impedance (47,000 Ohms) and input sensitivity of 1.7V unbalanced or 3.4V balanced, ensuring excellent compatibility and signal integrity from various audio sources.
-
The amplifier utilizes Unity Coupled output circuitry with multifilar wound output transformers, resulting in significantly lower distortion, broader power bandwidth, and enhanced loudspeaker damping. The front panel features a half-inch thick glass with tube view and fiber optic light diffuser illumination providing both aesthetic appeal and functional monitoring.
