CES 2026: The New Samsung Freestyle+
A New Way to Freestyle
The Samsung Freestyle+ promises a lot compared to its predecessors. Importantly, the Plus promises almost twice the brightness (430 ISO Lumens, to be exact) of the second-generation Freestyle, a direct response to certain reviews of the projector. Also new to Samsung's portable projector is the addition of Samsung Q-Symphony, which lets you pair the Freestyle+ with a compatible Samsung soundbar to create more immersive audio.
New to Freestyle+: AI OptiScreen
The "plus" in Samsung Freestyle+ comes from the addition of AI features. The features in the suite are:
- 3D Auto Keystone: minimizes visual distortion on a variety of surfaces, even uneven or non-flat surfaces including angled walls or even curtains
- Screen Fit: uses AI to automatically adjust the screen to fill a particular surface, from dedicated screens to walls
- Real-time Focus: continuously adjusts the focus to maintain clear, stable images even as the projector moves
- Wall Calibration: adjusts the image based on the color of the surface onto which you're projecting
While keystone correction and screen fitting can be found on many portable projectors, we're really intrigued by the real-time focus. It might be the feature that takes the newest generation of Freestyle to the next level. The AI OptiScreen suite is further supported by Samsung Vision AI Companion, which means you can use Bixby to enhance your home viewing. The Samsung Freestyle+ will launch globally in the first half of 2026, but Samsung hasn't announced pricing yet. The Freestyle 2nd Gen retails for $800, so expect something in that price range.
