Samsung M70H vs. M80H: Comparing Samsung's 2026 Mini LED TVs
Which Features Do They Have in Common?
Before we get into our deep dive on the differences between the M70H vs. M80H, let's go over the features they share. They both support HD10+ for better picture quality. Both TVs have Samsung Vision AI, which supports features like AI upscaling, sound optimization, Bixby integration and Live Translation. They also both support Q-Symphony for enhanced audio.
Meet AI Soccer Mode
One of the most exciting new features that both TVs share is AI Soccer Mode (just "Soccer Mode" on the M70H), which uses machine learning to recognize what's happening in the game and optimizing picture settings to transport you to your favorite team's stadium. If you're a sports fan, this feature is for you.
Comparing Picture Quality
The M70H and M80H are both 4K Mini LED TVs, so either option offers great picture quality for the price. They also both boast Pure Spectrum Color, which means you'll enjoy bright, accurate colors with deep contrast. While they both offer Samsung's Motion Xcelerator feature to reduce tearing for sports or gaming, the M80H features an upgraded version with 144Hz and DLG 240Hz performance. If you're a frequent sports viewer or gamer, it might be worth the upgrade, but both of these TVs look great.
Screen Size Options
Both the Samsung M80H and M70H come in 55", 65", 75" and 85" screen sizes. The M70H, however, also offers smaller 43" and 50" options. These smaller screens are great for kitchens, bathrooms or even smaller bedrooms, so depending on where you're putting your new TV, smaller may be better. The M70H has more size options, so we recommend it based on the installation flexibility these options offer.
Comparing TV Audio Quality
By now, we all know that the ultra-thin TVs of today simply don't have the space for robust audio systems, which means adding a soundbar is the key to great TV sound. Luckily, both the M70H and M80H feature Q-Symphony, which syncs the TV audio to your compatible Samsung soundbar to enhance the sound quality. Both TVs also feature Object Tracking Sound Lite, a technology that "places" the sound where the action is on-screen. So you'll truly hear a car speed on-screen from one direction, or a whispered conversation in the background. In short, the audio will better mirror the on-screen action. As both Samsung TVs share these features and both feature 2-channel speakers, we'd say they're evenly matched in terms of sound.
Gaming Features
Both Samsung TVs offer gaming-focused features, including Gaming Hub, Cloud Gaming and Variable Refresh Rate. However, the M80H also features a 144Hz refresh rate, a massive upgrade over the M70H's 60Hz refresh rate. A better refresh rate means smoother gameplay with less lag, which is crucial for fast-paced games like first-person shooters. The M80H also features AI Auto Game Mode, which detects the genre of game you're playing and adjusts the settings for improved performance. If you plan to game on your TV often, it's worth upgrading to the M80H.
AI-Powered Features
At the core of the M80H TV is its NQ4 AI Gen2 processor, which enables next-gen features that elevate your home entertainment and add additional benefits. The processor enables Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which helps amplify dialogue over background noise and sound in your room, and AI Customization Mode, which adjusts the image quality for different genres based on your preferences. The M70H has a different processor, so it doesn't offer these features. Do you have pets? Then the Pet Care feature on the M80H might interest you; the TV's built-in AI can detect your dog barking, and you can even set your TV to turn on their favorite show to comfort them while you're away. It might not be the most crucial feature, but definitely one we see many pet owners enjoying.
Smart Features
While both the M70H and M80H are smart TVs, they don't share all the same features. The only advanced smart feature available on the M70H is Quick Remote, which lets you use your compatible Samsung smartphone as a TV remote. The M80H, on the other hand, has a suite of smart features that includes the SmartThings Hub, which means your Samsung phone can be used as a remote to control all the Samsung smart products in your home, and IoT-Sensor Functionality, which lets you manage your smart home devices from your TV. In this instance, the M80H having more smart features isn't necessarily "better." If you don't feel you'll use those features, you may prefer to spend less on the M70H.
Samsung M70H vs. M80H: Which TV Should You Get?
Neither of these TVs is a bad choice, but there are definite differences. If you're just looking for a TV that looks great without costing a ton of money, you'll be happy with the M70H. It's also great if you're looking for a smaller screen. If you want to upgrade without paying the price of an ultra-high-end TV, the M80H adds a lot of additional features. If you primarily use your TV for gaming or watching sports, you'll probably find the M80H offers a better viewing experience.
