As we enter the winter season, we want to reassure our customers that their health is still a top priority when visiting Abt. We continue to be diligent with our safety procedures, including taking the temperature of every employee and customer who enters our building, requiring masks for all employees and customers, and performing contact tracing for our staff.

Our store is continuously being sanitized by our in-house cleaning staff, and hand sanitizer stations are placed throughout the showroom. Entries and exits will be one way only and building capacity will be strictly monitored.

To accommodate the increased number of customers during the holiday shopping season, we have expanded our curbside pickup area and will be adding an outdoor merchandise pickup station. And our free same-day and next-day delivery service has been expanded to meet growing demand from our customers.

All departments inside Abt are now fully open for normal walk-in shopping. As per state guidelines, everyone over the age of 2 years old is still required to wear a mask inside Abt. If you do not have a mask, we will be happy to provide you with one when you enter. The other preventative measures described below remain in effect.

All Abt installers and service technicians are required to wear masks when entering customers’ homes, and we ask that customers also wear a mask when in close proximity to those employees.

We have expanded our curbside pickup area and added more phone customer service representatives to ensure that wait times are kept to a minimum. You can also contact us via text. Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. are reserved for higher risk customers (seniors, expectant mothers, and those with an underlying health condition).

At Abt, we are doing everything possible to maintain the health and safety of all of our staff and customers.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of our business has shifted to online and phone transactions. As a result, we have expanded our ability to offer same-day (drop off) delivery service, curbside pickup, contactless payment options and access to our expertly trained sales and support team via phone, chat, or text.

Our delivery and service staff have been provided with personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves, shoe coverings, and hand sanitizer. All in-home visits for necessary repairs or installations are as contactless as possible. Before any of our delivery/repair staff goes on the road, we message our customers to confirm that an inside visit is safe and if not, we are happy to reschedule on a future date.

As for our retail location, Abt has always taken great pride in making sure our store is well maintained and following up-to-date safety standards. We know this is more important than ever right now. Following guidance from the CDC, we have greatly increased our efforts, meticulously cleaning and sanitizing our store hours before the store opens, throughout the day and hours after it closes.

Social distancing protocols have been implemented throughout the store for the protection of both employees and customers. Adjacent workstations deemed too close together have been closed, both on our sales floor and behind the scenes. Non-essential areas of the store have been closed and we have abundant signage and markings on the floor to ensure proper social distancing. We’ve kept staff only in vital areas of the store like merchandise pickup, shipping, and customer service. Hundreds of employees are working from home.

We’ve increased hygiene protocols for all employees. Both customers and staff are required to wear protective masks at all times while in our store in accordance with new requirements set by the Village of Glenview. To further ensure the safety of everyone in the store, staff and customer temperature checks are taken upon entering the building. People with any symptoms of illness may not enter our facility or go into customer's homes.

Abt’s first priority is, and always will be the health and safety of its staff, customers, and the entire community, and will continue to be diligent in all our practices to maintain these standards.

As a family business of 84 years, we understand the importance of being there for our community, especially in these uncertain times.

After careful consideration, we have decided to remain open with limited hours and staff, to better serve the public and allow our employees the opportunity to support their families. Our community relies on us for services and essential goods that are necessary for everyday life, from cooking and storing food to staying connected with school, work, friends, and family.

We are dedicated to the safety and health of our customers and staff and will remain vigilant with our protocols to maintain our commitment to our customers and community.
