Before you start, have a new Whirlpool™ refrigerator water filter at the ready; we have a guide to finding the right filter here. Next, find the location of your old water filter. We list a few popular spots in our water filter finder, but you can find the refrigerator's model number and determine the filter's location with that information. As a general rule, you'll open the housing, twist the filter counterclockwise and pull it out. On the new filter, remove the cap, align it with the refrigerator's filter housing and push it in until it clicks. Once the new filter is installed, flush it with about four gallons of water to clear impurities. Afterward, you can reset the water filter light if that's necessary.

Reset by turning off your Whirlpool™ washer, unplugging the appliance, waiting for five minutes, then reconnecting it to the power and trying to turn the washer back on. For issues with locked doors, press and hold the "Cancel" or "Stop" button for a few seconds. Test the door, and try beginning a cycle to complete the reset cycle. For a washer with a touchscreen that's no longer working, try powering off the machine or unplugging it, then plug it back in for a screen reset.

With so many different ovens on the market, Whirlpool™ recommends different cleaning methods depending on the oven. You can manually clean with a paste of baking soda and water, then wipe away the paste with vinegar and a damp cloth. Many ovens come with a self-cleaning cycle as well. Use the high-heat clean cycle or steam cycle as preferred. One thing you should never do is use harsh chemicals. This is a space where you cook food, and you don't want harsh fumes inside your oven.
