For 90 years, Jura has been innovating within the world of coffee, upgrading the way we brew and enjoy our favorite drinks daily. As of today, Abt carries 22 different Jura coffee machines, each offering their own special features and abilities to the everyday coffee drinker. As Jura manages to advance their models over time, that number will fluctuate. But with all of these options available, how does a customer figure out which coffee maker is best for their lifestyle and sipping habits? We’re happy to say we’ve done the hard work for you. Our team has pulled eight of the best Jura coffee machines on the market and taken a closer look at each specification and detail. These models are:

And now, we're going to break down what's most important to look for in each so you can choose the perfect small appliance for your countertop

Sizing Up Jura Coffee Machines

We’ll start with what we consider to be the most trivial detail when browsing Jura coffee machines: the size of the appliance itself. We’re not talking capacity (keep reading for more on that), but the space the physical build of the machine will take up on your counter. Why does this matter? Some customers may be shopping for a coffee maker for their studio apartment or college dorm. When working with a small living space like this, conserving tabletop space for various appliances or other goods is vital. In this instance, the smaller the Jura, the better. The height is the vertical measurement from top to bottom, while the width is the horizontal measurement from the left side to the right side. The depth represents the horizontal measurement from the front of the machine to the back.

Here’s our breakdown:

  • Jura Z10
    • Height: 15 inches
    • Width: 12.6 inches
    • Depth: 17.7 inches
  • Jura S8
    • Height: 13.8 inches
    • Width: 11 inches
    • Depth: 17.3 inches
  • Jura J8
    • Height: 13.7 inches
    • Width: 12.5 inches
    • Depth: 17.6 inches
  • Jura GIGA 10
    • Height: 16.33 inches
    • Width: 12.6 inches
    • Depth: 19.53 inches
  • Jura ENA 4
    • Height: 12.7 inches
    • Width: 10.7 inches
    • Depth: 17.5 inches
  • Jura E8
    • Height: 13.8 inches
    • Width: 11 inches
    • Depth: 17.6 inches
  • Jura E6
    • Height: 13.8 inches
    • Width: 11 inches
    • Depth: 17.6 inches
  • Jura E4
    • Height: 13.8 inches
    • Width: 11 inches
    • Depth: 17.6 inches
To sum our measurements up, the shortest and smallest model of the eight is the Jura ENA 4. The tallest and biggest model is the Jura GIGA 10. The Jura E4, E6 and E8 are all the exact same size, although the Jura S8 and Jura J8 have measurements that are quite similar. If you’re aiming for something truly compact, then the Jura ENA 4 is the way to go. Do keep in mind, though, that the smaller the machine is, the fewer features it may have to offer. You’ll get more information on the Jura ENA 4’s abilities later in this post.

Coffee Capacity

Now it's time to break down the coffee capacity. Each of the Jura coffee machines covered features a built-in coffee grinder, a water tank and a bean hopper. Prefer pre-ground coffee? Don’t worry, all these Jura models are equipped with a powder chute as well so you can use your favorite blend. While the water tank can simply be reloaded when you run out, there are several reasons why more capacity may interest you. Maybe you want a lower-maintenance coffee maker that doesn’t require constant refills. Perhaps you live in a large household and tend to brew multiple cups back to back.
Whatever the case is, capacity matters. The capacity measurements below reflect the capacity of the water tank, as it directly reflects the amount of liquid that will fill your mug. Keeping in mind that one cup of coffee equates to eight ounces, here’s what these eight models are capable of:
  • Jura ENA 4: 36.8 ounces (about 5 cups of coffee)
  • Jura J8: 63.6 ounces (about 8 cups of coffee)
  • Jura E4: 64 ounces (8 cups of coffee)
  • Jura E6: 64 ounces (8 cups of coffee)
  • Jura E8: 64 ounces (8 cups of coffee)
  • Jura S8: 64 ounces (8 cups of coffee)
  • Jura Z10: 81 ounces (about 10 cups of coffee)
  • Jura GIGA 10: 87 ounces (about 11 cups of coffee)
Yes, the Jura ENA 4 and the Jura GIGA 10 are still reigning in the top and bottom spots of our list. And yes, the Jura E series models all come in the same size and the same coffee capacity. But that doesn’t mean they share the same abilities. We’ll dive deeper into this in our next section.

Speciality Beverage Selection

If you’re a versatile caffeine drinker, then you’re in good hands with any of these eight Jura coffee machines. All of them can make both coffee and espresso. Unfortunately, that is where the similarities end when it comes to beverage selection. We should first mention that some Jura coffee machines can brew specialty beverages that require hot milk or milk foam. Others cannot, and this includes the Jura ENA 4 and the Jura E4. We’ll first tell you what these two models are capable of:
  • Jura ENA 4:
    • Espresso
    • Coffee
    • Caffè doppio
    • Espresso doppio
  • Jura E4
    • Espresso
    • 2 X Espresso
    • Coffee
    • 2 X Coffee
    • Hot water

As previously mentioned, the Jura E4 is the same size as the E6 and E8 and it has the same coffee bean capacity. However, the beverage selection on the model is much more limited. The next series of Jura coffee machines are the models that can brew coffee with milk. These specialties include things like cortados, macchiatos, lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites and more. Rather than list every single beverage that the models can make (there are far too many), we’ll tell you how many specialties they can handle. If you’re curious about exactly which beverages these appliances have to offer, you can find a complete list in the product specifications section on both abt.com and the manufacturer’s website.
  • Jura E6: 11 beverage specialties
  • Jura S8: 15 beverage specialties
  • Jura E8: 17 beverage specialties
  • Jura J8: 31 beverage specialties
  • Jura Z10: 32 beverage specialties
  • Jura GIGA 10: 35 beverage specialties (full menu)
How you choose a machine, based on beverages, is completely up to what kind of coffee drinker you are. If you tend to like your caffeine plain (black, no cream, no sugar), then you probably won’t need extensive specialties. You’ll be able to get away with a Jura ENA 4 without breaking the bank. If you consider yourself a coffee connoisseur who’s interested in experimenting with coffee or enjoying barista-quality drinks at home, then having a variety of options can only benefit you. While these machines may have larger price tags, you’ll be spending the money you’d typically take to your local cafe and instead, crafting your own coffee.

Can I Get It Cold?

As America has seen the rise of popular coffee chains like Starbucks and Dunkin', it has also seen the rise of iced and cold coffee options. If you prefer to drink your coffee on ice, there are only two options from our Jura lineup that can satisfy your needs: the Jura Z10 and the Jura GIGA 10.
Both models can make cold brew coffee. Both can also make cold brew versions of classic beverages like americanos, macchiatos, caffe lattes and cappuccinos. This means the machine can extract the coffee with cold water, rather than hot. So what’s the difference between pouring your latte over ice vs. brewing a cold brew latte with your Jura? Cold brew extraction creates coffee that's bolder and richer than standard coffee. So if you're interested in bringing out the true flavor of your coffee beans, this method may be for you.

Coffee Programming & Customization

An infrographic displaying the eight Jura coffee machines and below, they are marked for whether they can or cannot accomplish specific customizable features
One of the best parts of taking one of these Jura coffee machines home is gaining access to several coffee personalization settings. Everyone prefers to drink their coffee differently and sometimes, to reach that perfect flavor, it takes a lot of extra work after the brewing has already been completed. Why add more milk or warm up your mug in the microwave when one of these Jura models can simplify the process for you? Above, we’ve created a handy infographic that lists the various ways you can customize your coffee with Jura coffee machines.
Both the Jura E4 and the Jura ENA 4 offer three levels of coffee strength to choose from. The rest of the models offer ten levels of coffee strength. Every model that is capable of customizing the brewing temperature offers three levels of heat, too. The Jura Z10 and the Jura GIGA 10 can both customize the temperature of your milk/milk foam, but the GIGA 10 offers three levels while the Z10 offers 10. As you can see, the Jura Z10 and the Jura GIGA 10 are the only two of the eight machines that can do every customization offered.
Note: “Personalized recipes” refers to the machine’s ability to turn your unique customizations into savable recipes that you can use over and over again.

No matter which of these Jura coffee machines you choose, your newest appliance is guaranteed to be a bigger investment. While some Jura models cost more than others, the brand’s overall lineup is still considered luxury. To justify any cost, there are important questions to ask yourself. How often do you drink coffee? Do you need specialty beverages? How much capacity do you need to caffeinate the coffee lovers in your home daily? The answers may help you at least narrow down which options are best for you and your lifestyle. Below are the current prices for the eight best Jura models, from lowest to highest (you’ll notice the most basic model and the most advanced model are on opposite sides of the spectrum):
  • Jura ENA 4: $1,199
  • Jura E4: $1,399
  • Jura E6: $1,899
  • Jura E8: $2,799
  • Jura J8: $3,799
  • Jura S8: $3,999

We covered what we consider the most important criteria when investing in a Jura coffee maker. But there are plenty of other ways to figure out which model is best for you. Here are a few more questions to help you continue your shopping journey:

  • How many coffee/espresso spouts do you want?
  • Would you like a milk system cleaning feature?
  • Would you like integrated rinsing/cleaning/descaling?
  • Do you want to be able to program an on/off time for your machine?
