The Jura E6 and E8 are two of their mid-range coffee & espresso machines. They're both great options for coffee lovers, but how do you decide which model is right for you? We're breaking down price, design, drink options and more to help you buy the right Jura espresso machine.

Determining Your Budget

One of the easiest ways to determine whether the Jura E6 vs. E8 is right for you is your budget. Jura machines are an investment in general, so be prepared to spend more. Currently, the E6 retails for $1,899 and the E8 retails for $2,799. If you have a strict budget, this may be where the comparison ends for you; if you have more room to spend, we'll break down more factors so you can decide what's worth your money.

Design Differences

If you're investing this much in a coffee/espresso machine, it should look great on your counter. Both Jura espresso machines are attractive appliances, but there are some slight differences. The Jura E6 has a 2.8" color display with buttons, while the E8 has a 3.5" color display with buttons. The E6 comes in Piano White and Platinum options; the E8 is available in Piano White and Chrome as well as Piano Black, so be sure to choose the finish that looks best in your kitchen. They both have a 64 oz. water tank capacity and a 9.9 oz. bean container. When comparing the design, neither machine is "better." Decide which color you want, then compare other factors.

Coffee Drink Options

The Jura E6 offers 11 drink options, while the E8 can make 17. While it seems obvious that the machine that makes more drinks is the better choice, this really depends on your coffee drinking preferences; if you won't use all the options the E8 has to offer, you might want to spend less and go with the E6. The key difference is that the E8 has more drink varieties with milk, like lattes and flat whites. If you prefer espresso drinks with milk, the E8 is definitely better suited to your needs. Plus, the E8 features the automatic One-Touch milk system cleaning to ensure superior performance and great-tasting drinks. However, both have the ability to make just a portion of milk foam, which allows for more customization. If you have the budget to spend more on the E8, it's never a bad idea to have more options.

Comparing Brewing & Grinding Performance

In addition to the variety of drinks, the quality of those drinks is just as important. Both the E6 and the E8 feature the Thermoblock Heating System, which freshly heats the water for each drink, rather than heating all the water, for better-tasting drinks and shorter heating times. They also both feature the P.E.P.® Pulse Extraction Process, wherein hot water is forced through the grounds at precisely measured intervals for maximum aroma extraction. When comparing the performance of the E6 vs. E8, the key difference is in the grinder. The E6 features their Professional Aroma Grinder, which is designed for a more consistent grind to increase aroma extraction. The E8 gets an upgrade with the P.A.G. 2 grinder; in addition to the improved grinding, the grinder settings can also be adjusted to give you more control over the flavor and aroma of your drink. If you're someone who likes more control and customization, the E8 wins this round.

Wi-Fi Connectivity & Control

Do you want to be able to control your espresso machine from your phone and customize your drinks to your specific preferences? You'll need a Jura espresso machine with Wi-Fi connectivity. The E6 doesn't have Wi-Fi natively, but you can purchase the Wi-Fi Connect accessory (sold separately) to connect your machine to your home network, which then lets you connect to Jura's J.O.E.® (JURA Operating Experience) app. The E8 also doesn't have built-in Wi-Fi, but you can purchase the Wi-Fi Connect accessory to connect to your home Wi-Fi for use with J.O.E.® app. Once again, this factor comes down to personal preference; some love the convenience of Wi-Fi connectivity, while others prefer to keep smart technology out of their kitchen.

Jura E6 vs. E8: Which Do You Choose?

While both of these espresso machines are great choices, you only need one. If maximizing your budget is the most important factor, the E6 is probably the machine for you. If greater customization and a large selection of drinks is important to you, the E8 will give you what you want.
