Is My Dryer Gas Or Electric?
Not sure how to tell if your dryer runs on gas or electricity? We're here to help, and it's easy to tell which you have. In most cases, it's as simple as looking at your plug. While there are only two types of fuel for these dryers, they both have an electrical connection: but the plugs will look very different. For a purely electric dryer, your appliance will plug into a 240V receptacle. It's very different from a standard plug, and in fact can't even be plugged into a normal outlet thanks to its unusual three- or four-pronged shape. If you see one of these running out from your dryer, it runs only on electricity. If you're replacing it, it would be easiest to replace it with the same kind of fuel source.
Meanwhile, gas-fueled models use both a 120V cord as well as natural gas to dry clothing. Keep an eye out for the yellow natural gas hose that's attached to the back. If you can't find these hoses and cords (or don't want to move your machine) try looking inside your dryer for the information sticker. An electric model will mention 240V, while the gas dryer will mention what type of gas it's compatible with.
