Built for customers assembling a high-output audio system, the Cicada Audio CHX8.2 combines an 8-inch pro mid-bass driver and horn tweeter in a 2-ohm coaxial design supplied as a pair. Each speaker is rated for 400W RMS and 800W maximum power handling, with 92dB sensitivity and a 46Hz-20kHz +/-3dB frequency response. This configuration brings separate mid-bass and high-frequency reproduction together in one speaker platform. Its all-weather approach also prepares the pair for audio systems exposed to shifting outdoor conditions.

The driver assembly uses materials selected for efficiency, strength and heat resistance. A lightweight, rigid Carbon Matrix Composite cone handles high temperatures, while the Black Coat OFC copper wire mid-bass voice coil combines high conductivity with low resistance. An N35SH neodymium magnet supplies powerful, reliable performance. Above the mid-bass section, an aluminum tweeter diaphragm produces brighter, more efficient sound, and its OFC copper wire voice coil is designed to generate less heat while delivering strong output.

System control and cooling are integral to the CHX8.2 design. A custom-tooled, vented and encased 12dB external crossover accompanies the speakers, and a selectable resistor attenuator provides additional tweeter-level control.¹ The custom-tooled die-cast aluminum basket incorporates Vortex Flow Venting to maximize airflow and cooling, while the Nanofram Horn Cover completes the horn assembly. Together, these elements give high-power system builders a durable 2-ohm coaxial speaker pair designed for controlled output in rain-or-shine environments.
