Abt currently has five types of air conditioners: window, wall, casement, portable, and central air. We also have a variety of air conditioner accessories like sleeves and power cords. When considering which air conditioner to purchase, the most important consideration is the size of the room that you will be cooling.
If you have a large space then you will need a more powerful unit that has a higher number of British Thermal Units or BTUs. A BTU measures the amount of energy an air conditioner will consume. So, if you have a large space to cool, then you will want a unit with more BTUs than you would if you are cooling a small room.
Depending on the area that needs cooling you will need to consider different types of air conditioners. Whole-house cooling is best done with a central air conditioner. It will run in conjunction with your furnace.
For apartment and condo dwellers with no central air option, think of a casement, window, or wall air conditioner. They will provide either permanent or temporary cooling solutions.
If you only need a few rooms cooled or want a temporary cooling solution, consider a portable air conditioner. If you are using a portable unit, make sure that you will have access to a window for ventilation purposes.
