AudioQuest HUSKY5MXLR 16.4 Feet Husky XLR Subwoofer Cable
Features
- Solid 5% Silver Conductors Improve Subwoofer Performance
Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion. Solid silver-plated conductors are excellent for very high-frequency applications. These signals, being such a high frequency, travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. As the surface is made of high-purity silver, the performance is very close to that of a solid silver cable, but priced much closer to solid copper cable. This is an incredibly cost effective way of manufacturing very high-quality subwoofer cables - Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation
Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. AudioQuest, however, uses Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation on both conductors, for increased geometry stabilization and improved clarity. Because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile, Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation, with its high air content, causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials - Dielectric-Bias System With Radio Frequency Trap
All insulation between two or more conductors is also a dielectric whose properties will affect the integrity of the signal. When the dielectric is unbiased, dielectric-involvement (absorption and non-linear release of energy) causes different amounts of time delay (phase shift) for different frequencies and energy levels, which is a real problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. The inclusion of an RF Trap (developed for AudioQuest's Niagara Series of power products), ensures that radio frequency noise will not be induced into the signal conductors from the DBS field elements. (DBS, US Pat #s 7,126,055 & 7,872,195 B1) - Triple-Balanced Geometry (Separate Ground-Reference Conductor)
The three conductors in "Triple-Balanced" Husky cables ensure that whether prepared with RCA or XLR plugs, the positive and negative signals have equally low-distortion conducting paths. The 100% coverage shield is never used as an inferior conductor - Cold-Welded, Hanging-Silver Directly Over Pure Red Copper Terminators
- Carbon-Based 4-Layer Noise-Dissipation System
It's easy to accomplish 100% shield coverage. Preventing captured Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) from modulating the equipment's ground reference requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation System (NDS). Traditional shield systems typically absorb and then drain noise/RF energy to component ground, modulating and distorting the critical "reference" ground plane, which in turn causes a distortion of the signal. NDS's alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded synthetics "shield the shield," absorbing and reflecting most of this noise/RF energy before it reaches the layer attached to ground - 5 Meters (16.4 Feet)

Frequently Asked Questions
-
This cable features solid 5% silver-plated conductors, which eliminate strand-interaction distortion and enhance signal quality, especially for very high-frequency applications. The silver plating allows signals to travel on the surface with minimal loss, delivering near solid silver cable performance at a more affordable price.
-
The cable uses a Carbon-Based 4-Layer Noise-Dissipation System combined with a dielectric-bias system featuring a radio frequency trap. This advanced shielding prevents radio frequency interference from modulating the ground reference, reducing distortion and ensuring cleaner audio signals.
-
Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation is used on both conductors to enhance geometry stability and improve clarity. The high air content minimizes energy absorption and distortion caused by insulation materials, resulting in a more focused and accurate sound.
-
The cable provides a length of 16.4 feet (approximately 5 meters), offering ample reach for flexible installation in audio setups.
-
This cable comes with a 1-year parts and 1-year labor warranty, ensuring coverage for manufacturing defects and support in case of issues.
