Avid Technology

• Glass Composite Bonded
  Cuetec’s AVID shafts are constructed with multi-plies of glass composite bonded to A-grade kiln-dried hard maple. This advanced patent-pending construction and bonding process not only strengthens the AVID shaft, but also increasing the shaft’s dynamic stiffness while maintaining the feel and feed-back players require to grow and further develop their game. The .75mm bonded glass composite layers run the entire length of AVID the shaft, each layer is oriented to maximize performance and durability, the result of this layering is a shaft that exhibits the feel of wood, with the longevity and warp resistance of a composite.
• Air Light Front-End Construction
  Less weight means less deflection. Benefiting from their ultra-strong glass composite wood bonding construction, every AVID shaft features Cuetec’s Air Light front-end build. This construction allows the AVID shaft to be bored out more than 10 inches, creating an ultra-rigid cavity with far less mass, resulting in a more accurate and durable shaft.
• Thin White Sighting Ferrule
  At only .375 inches long (9.53mm), the lightweight, thin white sighting ferrule on each AVID shaft not only aids in aim contrast and depth perception, but it also provides a more familiar and stable platform for tip maintenance and replacement over the life of the shaft.
• Laminated Tiger Everest Tip
  Selected for its consistency and neutral hit attributes, each AVID shaft is paired with an Everest tip. Naturally cured for more than a year, each Everest tip is meticulously honed, utilizing a unique vacuum lamination process that ensures the elimination of air between the tip’s ten layers. The red wear indicator lets players know when it’s time to get their tip changed.

AVID Care & Maintenance

• Maintaining the Cuetec AVID shaft’s finish.
  Cuetec AVID shafts must never be sanded or modified. Using any abrasive on the surface of the shaft will damage the shaft’s finish and possibly weaken the shaft’s glass composite bonding layers and discharge potentially harmful materials that could be hazardous to your health. Any polishing, sanding or treatment of the surface of the shaft with abrasives or chemicals of any kind will void the shaft’s warranty.
• Never use baby powder, hand chalk, talcum powder or other shaft treatments on a Cuetec AVID shaft.
  To clean the surface of your Cuetec AVID shaft, you will need just a few materials; Isopropyl Alcohol (75% or higher) and two (2) clean and debris-free soft cloth towels.
  • Step 1: Remove any dust and debris by wiping the shaft with a soft clean cloth.
  • Step 2: Apply a reasonable amount of Isopropyl Alcohol (75% or higher) to a clean, soft cloth towel. Next, work the towel up and down the length of the shaft, while rotating your hand around its circumference. It is possible that dirt will be visible on the towel. This is completely normal. Continue working the shaft with the same motion until all areas have been thoroughly wiped, then allow a few moments for the surface to dry.
• Changing the tip on your Cuetec AVID Shaft.
  Cuetec AVID shafts feature a light-weight white sighting ferrule. This inclusion to AVID shaft’s front-end construction allows for easier tip replacement over the life of the shaft. When changing the tip, it is important to clean and resurface the ferrule. The minimum height of the ferrule must be greater than 2mm to maintain the shaft’s warranty coverage.
  • * Always use a recognized and proven cuesmith. Never allow a cuesmith to sand or modify the shaft’s finish when installing a new tip.
• Replacing the ferrule on your Cuetec AVID Shaft.
  While unlikely, should the ferrule on your Cuetec AVID shaft ever need to be replaced, it must be done by an authorized Cuetec repair center. This is required due to the complex nature of the bonding agents used and to ensure that no damage is done to the shaft’s glass composite bonding layers. • Adjusting an AVID Cue’s weight
  Cuetec AVID cues utilize a cartridge based weight system. To adjust the weight of your cue. Remove the bumper using a 10mm hex wrench key. After the bumper has been removed, insert a Phillips head screwdriver into the butt, turning it to the left to remove any installed weights. Cuetec Acueweights are available in .25 .oz, .05 .oz, and 1.0 .oz, increments.
• Warpage
  Cuetec AVID shafts feature a limited-lifetime warranty against warpage.
• Abuse
  Cuetec AVID shafts are not engineered to tolerate considerable lateral pressure. They should never be flexed excessively, hit on other objects or treated with any abrasives, whether they are solid or liquid.
• Shaft Diameter
  Cuetec AVID shaft diameters should never be modified. Any sanding, polishing or abrasive treatment could jeopardize the ultra-thin glass bonding surface layer and immediately void the AVID shaft’s warranty.
