Join Us for Abt's Third Annual Pizza Cook-Off
For the third year in a row, we've gathered some of the best chefs in the Chicagoland area to show off their best pizzas. A $15 charitable donation is the only thing required to attend, and we hope you'll join us to kick off the fall season with amazing pizza. Your donation also enters you into our raffle with amazing pizza-themed prizes. Let's meet the chefs battling for the 2025 title:
Joey Beach is the Chef de Cuisine at Pizza Lobo, a pizzeria with locations in Logan Square and Avondale. Pizza Lobo is known for their New Jersey-style thin crust pizza, and Beach is passionate about cold-fermented sourdough and hand-stretched dough to craft the perfect slice.
David Choi represents Prince Street Pizza, a New York institution that he brought to Chicago. Their claim to fame is the Spicy Spring slice, with a spicy Fra Diavolo sauce and iconic pepperoni cups. He's been featured in major food publications like Eater and Food Network.
Giovanni Oriente of Pizza Di Farfalla—and last year's winner—is also set to return. Oriente's Pizza Di Farfalla is a popular pizzeria and catering business in New Lenox. The pizzeria was recently catapulted to national attention after a viral review by David Portnoy.
Victor Joya is representing WG Pizzas, known for their tavern-style pizza. A spinoff of the iconic North Shore institution Alex's Washington Gardens, WG Pizzas uses proprietary dough, housemade sauce and a signature cracker-thin crust that Chicago pizza fans can't get enough of.
Chef Giovanni Labbate has 35 years of pizza experience, and he's used that experience to open Tievoli Pizza in Palatine. Tievoli Pizza is a celebration of Labbate's Italian-American heritage, serving New York- and Detroit-style pizzas at their main restaurant and food truck.
Be sure to RSVP and get your ticket to enjoy delicious pizzas, enter into our raffle and vote for your favorite pie. All proceeds from the ticket sales go directly to the winning chef's chosen charity, so you'll also be helping a good cause. Make sure you bring your appetite, and we'll see you on September 28!
