Apple Crisp Recipe by Wolf

Wolf apple crisp recipe topped with a scoop of ice cream in a dish beside a spoon

Before autumn gives way to winter, you'll want to try and cook some of the best seasonal favorites—like a classic apple crisp recipe. If you've never had an apple crisp before, you're in for a treat. Some of the greatest elements of fall baking and seasonal produce combine in this treat. Between the Gala apples (in season now), fresh spices and perfect crumble topping, this apple crisp recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser. This particular recipe comes from Wolf, a pro appliance brand known for incredible cooking ranges that are great for any home chef (or career chef, too). While this recipe is best cooked in the Wolf multi-function cooker, you can create it in any multicooker. One thing to note before you begin is that this apple crisp recipe calls for a multicooker vessel that can bake in the oven for the final crisping process. While many multicooker vessels can bake in the oven, not all can—if yours cannot, transfer your mixture to a baking pan to finish the recipe. Check out the step-by-step apple crisp recipe below, and keep an eye out for a few more holiday recipes from Abt this season.

Wolf Apple Crisp

  • For the mixture:
  • 14 large Gala apples, peeled & cut into wedges
  • 1 cup of packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh grated ginger
  • 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon of grated nutmeg
  • For the topping:
  • 1 2/3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup of firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 10 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of sliced almonds (substitute with chopped hazelnuts, pecans or walnuts if preferred)
  • Vanilla ice cream to top, if preferred
  1. For the apple crisp mixture: Mix apples, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, lemon juice, ginger, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg in your multi-cooker.
  2. If you're using the Wolf multi-cooker, set it to 1 Program Mode, Medium for 3 hours. If you have a different brand of multicooker, set your multicooker to medium heat (210°F) and cook it for three hours instead.
  3. When the apple mixture is almost finished, preheat your oven to 400°F; it's about to get crisp.
  4. Now it's time to make the crumble's topping. In a medium bowl, combine the topping's flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon and salt. Mix ingredients with a wooden spoon, then add softened butter. Use your fingertips to crumble until you find the right consistency for your apple crisp recipe. Add the almonds (or preferred nuts) and stir.
  5. If you're using an oven-safe multicooker vessel like the one in the Wolf multi-cooker, spoon the crumble evenly across the mixture while it stays in the multicooker vessel. If not, scoop the apple mixture into a separate baking dish, then top with apple crumble.
  6. Place the multicooker vessel or baking dish into the oven. Bake for 20 minutes until the crust is golden brown. Serve with vanilla ice cream if preferred.
