It's time for KBIS once again. The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show is a chance for appliance, hardware and bath fixture brands to show off their latest innovations, and the Abt team is there again this year. KBIS 2026 saw the reveal of the new Whirlpool refrigerator that dispenses nugget ice, the first of its kind in the industry.

Say goodbye to your countertop mice maker. Now, you can get that delightfully chewable ice straight from your fridge with Whirlpool. The exterior water and ice dispenser has an option right there, no scooping required. They're the first appliance brand to incorporate nugget ice into the door dispenser, and we can definitely see them setting the trend. Whirlpool's booth made a statement, with a color-changing wall that drew your eye to their latest fridge. But this refrigerator doesn't just offer nugget ice; with the brand's true counter-depth design, it'll sit flush with your kitchen cabinets like a luxury built-in model. According to Whirlpool, they'll be offering both 3-door and 4-door French door refrigerators with nugget ice. It's something we hope to see on our sales floor some day!
