TWICE Announces 2006 Excellence In Retailing Winners

TWICE is pleased to announce the winners of its third annual Excellence in Retailing Awards competition.

Honorees were selected in each of five categories based on channel of distribution and business model. Like past contests, TWICE solicited the input of readers who cast their online nominations for qualified candidates. Unlike previous competitions, the final selections were made by the editors of TWICE based on the short list of nominees that the readership provided.

Also new are the classifications: Best National Retailer, Best A/V Specialty Dealer, Best CE/Appliance Dealer, Best Consumer Direct Dealer, and, given recent industry trends, Best Vendor Retailer.

What has not changed are the criteria by which we weigh the candidates. TWICE asked voters to make their selections (and provide a written explanation) based on the following qualities:

  • Merchandising excellence
  • Store design
  • Customer service
  • Market share
  • Industry contributions
  • Retail innovation
  • Performance during the period of September 2005 through August 2006.

Congratulations to this year's winners (and runners up), each of whom embodies the best in consumer electronics and major appliance retailing.

  • Best CE Appliance Dealer: Abt Electronics
  • Best Consumer Direct Dealer: Crutchfield
  • Best Vendor Retailer: Dell
