Abt Announces Mobile Commerce Site

Largest single store independent retailer makes shopping easier with the launch of Abt.com for mobile handheld users.

GLENVIEW, IL (March 23, 2010) - Abt officially launches a dedicated mobile site.

Familiar features from Abt.com will be available on Abt's mobile site. Type Abt.com into the browser of any handheld mobile device and get automatically redirected to a mobile version of Abt.com, modified and perfected for use with a mobile device.

Aaron Graham and Huy Tong, two application developers from Abt's IT department, worked to make it easy to access and use. Aaron said, "Abt's marketing and IT groups had this on their upgrade list for over a year, it wasn't until March when they got serious about it."

"We handpicked the best features of mobile sites and created a distilled version of Abt.com," said Aaron Graham, IT application developer at Abt.

Abt strives to meet the needs of customers on-line, in the store, and on the phone. Creating a mobile commerce site enables customers to easily access products and information from their handheld device.

Huy and Aaron designed the Abt Mobile site on their own instead of using a third party developer. "It will be all in our hands and it will give us more flexibility. We can choose what we would like to add and what we want to omit from the site. Some stores have a lot of bells and whistles. We wanted it to be more basic; the more bells and whistles on the site, the fewer the number of people who can visit. All phones with access to the internet will be able to visit our site, not just Droids and iPhones," Aaron said.

Placing an order using the abt.com mobile site is easy. Google Checkout allows consumers to log in and check out with ease. Customers who prefer speaking with a live person can click and be connected to an award winning customer service representative who can place their order over the phone.
