At its core, the Apple M6 chip combines a 12-core CPU, a 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Everyday work feels responsive, from communication and collaboration to moving among applications, while creative and technical users can take on photo and video editing, music production, data analysis, 3D modeling and software development. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing brings more realistic lighting, shadows and reflections to supported games, and dedicated AI resources support local language models, coding agents and intelligent tools inside compatible productivity and creative applications.

Creative Media Acceleration

A dedicated Media Engine provides hardware acceleration for H.264, HEVC, ProRes and ProRes RAW. Video decode and encode engines, ProRes encode and decode support, and AV1 decode give creative workflows purpose-built resources for supported media formats.
