Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. The two-format brewing system accepts coffee pods or fresh grounds. A needle extracts coffee from pods, while a showerhead and reusable gold-tone mesh filter distribute water over ground coffee.
  • No. Standalone coffee brewing does not require an ice maker connection. For a shared coffee and nugget-ice station, it can connect to a compatible Opal 2.0 Ultra ice maker through the ice maker's side-tank tube. The removable 80 oz reservoir then supplies both appliances and replaces the ice maker's side tank. An ice maker is not included.
  • Choose from 6, 8, 10, or 12 oz brew sizes. Three strength settings are available: Standard (called Regular in the manual), Bold, and Iced. The Iced setting is described as extra bold for brewing over ice.
  • Cups up to 7 in tall fit with the drip tray in place. Removing the drip tray provides clearance for cups up to 8 in tall. The adjustable drip tray also offers multiple cup-height positions to help reduce splatter.
  • The manual recommends replacing the carbon water filter every 3 months or after 25 gallons brewed, and descaling approximately every 6 months. LED alerts indicate when to descale, check the filter, or add water. The included carbon water filter is installed at the bottom of the removable reservoir.
