TUMI subjects every product to up to 70 unique tests designed to simulate life on the move. Evaluations span water repellency, seam strength, zipper cycling, handle jerks, tearing strength, stair steps and mileage.

The test methods challenge key components over time: zippers are cycled 2,000 times, handles face 2,500 forceful drops and pulls, and carry-ons complete 750 stair-step cycles. Weighted four-wheel products are also run for up to four hours at speeds from 3 to 8 miles per hour.
