CES 2025: New ASUS Gaming Technology

Still have a question?
One of the brands we were excited to see at CES 2025 is ASUS, a brand renowned for computers and more. Each year they step up their game, releasing electronics that advance both work and play so you can get important tasks done and refine your creativity. Keep reading to see what they had in store for us on the exhibition floor.
In the video above, Carl gets an overview of the new ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM gaming monitor. The second in its series, the monitor’s screen size shrank from 32 to 27 inches, has a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.3 millisecond response time. But the coolest feature added is the OLED Care Pro Neo Proximity Sensor built into the bottom of the screen where the ASUS logo is. This sensor detects the space between you and your screen to create a custom distance. When you move away from the computer monitor, it will turn black or go idle. When you return to your gaming spot, the screen will illuminate. This is ideal for taking gaming breaks or grabbing a snack. Plus, it prevents OLED burn-in.

ROG G-Sync Pulsar

Still have a question?
The second gaming monitor ASUS showcased at CES 2025 was the ROG G-Sync Pulsar series, which offers both an OLED screen and an IPS screen. But this is no typical slow IPS monitor; this model is ultra-fast, and snappy response times are a huge factor in modern gameplay. OLED monitors almost always have fast response times, too. If you press play on our video, you’ll notice the visual difference between the monitors is almost nonexistent. Both models offer stunning performance.
The IPS monitor allows users to switch the aspect ratio between 1440p to 1080p and is designed with a computer stand from the ASUS XG Series, which features a slot to hold your phone, tablet or another small device. Even connect a camera, webcam or lights to the back of these monitors for a streaming setup.

The Perfect Devices For Mobile Gamers

Still have a question?
If you prefer mobile gaming to console or PC gaming, the new ASUS ROG 9 phone series is the investment for you. This series is an update to the ASUS ROG 8 series featured at CES 2024 and it consists of the ASUS ROG 9 and 9 Pro smartphones. Both utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform so you can run your games without the risk of thermo throttling and overheating. They also share a large 5800 mAh battery divided into two sections to create better balance in your hands.
When it’s time to charge, the USB-C connecter is on the side of the phone rather than the bottom so you never have to compromise your gaming grip. Then, the phones will perform what’s called bypass charging, which pushes electricity directly toward your phone instead of the battery itself. When electricity runs cycles through the battery, it degrades the length of your battery life over time, making bypass charging the optimal method.

On the side of the phones, you’ll find SuperSonic air triggers. These fast haptic buttons create console-like controls whenever you’re gaming in landscape mode, and you can map them to any two buttons within your game. Both the ASUS ROG 9 and the ASUS ROG 9 Pro have AniMe Vision, consisting of mini LEDs on the back of the phone. You can customize these LEDs to display whatever GIF you like most and they can give you system notifications too. So what are the differences between the regular ROG 9 and the Pro version? The finishes, the RAM and the storage. Here’s the breakdown:
  • ROG 9
    • Finishes: Black, White
    • Up to 16 GB of RAM
    • Up to 512 GB of storage
  • ROG 9 Pro
    • Finishes: Black
    • Up to 24 GB of RAM
    • Up to 1 TB of storage

Expand Your Gaming With An ASUS Tablet

Still have a question?
At CES 2025, ASUS showed off tablet gaming with their new ROG Flow Z13 tablet designed for the optimal, versatile gaming experience. It can be used as a tablet or a laptop, but you can also enable a third mode by connecting an eGPU, or an external graphics processing unit. Users can turn the tablet into a full workstation by connecting monitors, a keyboard, a mouse and plenty of other accessories. The eGPU port on the new tablet model has been changed to Thunderbolt 5 too, which means any eGPU that supports USB-C can be plugged right in with no limitations.
While tablets are engineered for portability, this model does not compromise on performance. It features the latest AMD Ryzen AI processor with an iGPU, or an Integrated Graphics Processing Unit, that’s built right into the CPU chip. Players will have smoother gameplay and an upgraded battery life, increasing from 40-watt hours to 70-watt hours.
