KBIS 2026: GE Profile Opal Mini & Opal Mini Pro

Three GE Profile Opal Mini ice makers behind a display window at KBIS 2026

The cult favorite evolves: the GE Profile&trade Opal Mini Nugget Ice Maker arrives on the scene at KBIS 2026. A true evolution of the classic, the new Mini and Mini Pro are designed for folks who love the idea of having ice on hand for beverages, cocktails and crunching, but were hoping for a more convenient, compact version. These two ice makers are great choices for apartments, condos, dorms, smaller homes, bar carts, or anywhere you find yourself looking for ice. Home office? Check. Real office? Check. Both the Mini and the Pro can create as much as 34 pounds of ice a day. And unlike the original Opal or the Opal 2.0, the Opal Mini and Opal Mini Pro come with iconic features that will lend a bit of personality to any space. Multiple colors were on display at the GE Profile™ booth at KBIS, along with that lovely, chewable ice, but we're not entirely sure if all of these colors are going to be available when the products release.

Opal 2.0 vs Opal Mini vs Opal Mini Pro

So, what are the differences between the Ge Profile™ Opal Mini Nugget Ice Maker and the Pro version—and the full-bodied Opal 2.0? Below, we dive into all of the details.

  • The classic GE Profile Opal 2.0 is not a small machine, but it fits comfortably on a countertop and can make 24 pounds of ice a day, coming in stainless steel and dark gray hues.
  • The new Opal Mini features a truly compact footprint with a front panel that opens and no side tank. It will be available in colors like Moonstone Blue, Stone Grey and Charcoal Grey.
  • Then there's the Pro Version, a model that comes with a side water tank for a higher capacity and less time spent moving back and forth to refill the ice machine. A water filter keeps away scale, while a scoop and external scoop storage do give you a truly "Pro" experience. Users can even connect to their machine via Wi-Fi to see maintenance alerts and more—and to customize the light inside the ice bin for an iconic experience that's completely yours and truly customizable. This model comes in stainless steel with a charcoal grey control and matching stainless steel and charcoal gray side tank, or a fully stainless steel option.

At KBIS 2026, the ice makers were shown off in a full collection of colorful hues, so we're hoping for exciting color releases in the future. We hope to see these two ice makers come to the market later this year; GE states that the Mini and Mini Pro will be available starting in July of 2026, and we're wondering if we'll see more of these fun colors as the ice makers are released.
