After the refrigerator has dispensed the standard amount of water through the system, the "Water Filter Status" light will appear on the touch panel. This lets you know that the filter needs to be changed. (For PureAdvantage Filters™, the standard amount of water that can be filtered is approximately 400 gallons.)

*If the refrigerator hasn't been used for a period of time, such as during a move, it is recommended to change the filter prior to reinstallation.

**It is not necessary to turn the water off when replacing the filter, though some water may release. (It is a good idea to have a towel on hand just in case)

To Remove The Old Filter:

1. Start by turning off the ice maker on the control panel.
2. Locate the filter near the bottom of the condiment bin.
3. Now, push the filter release button above the filter cartridge to disconnect it.
4. Then slide it straight out of the housing.

To Install The New Filter:

1. Remove both of the caps that are covering the inlet and exit of the filter.
2. Then, slide the new filter cartridge gently into the housing until it stops against the snap-in connector at the back of the housing.
3. Push firmly until the cartridge snaps into place (you should hear 2 clicks).
4. If put in correctly, the filter should be flush with the filter release button.
5. Once the filter is flush, turn on the ice maker on the control panel.
6. Now, Press a drinking glass against the water dispenser while checking for any leaks coming out of the filter housing. (Any spurts or sputters that occur are due to the system purging air out of the dispenser. It may take about 1.5 minutes to start dispensing water.
7. It is suggested to now Prime the Water Supply System by dispensing water from the system for about 3 minutes, in order to flush the system and plumbing connections of any impurities.

To Reset The Filter Display Message:

1. Press and hold the "Filter Status" button on the control panel for 3 seconds.
2. When the display changes from "Replace" to "Good" the filter display message should now be reset.

1. Press and hold and + for 4 seconds.
2. Once reset the icon will turn off

5. After filling one glass of water, continue flushing the system for about 4 minutes to ensure all impurities are out of the system.
6. Turn on the ice maker to finish the installation of the new filter.

To Reset The Filter Display Message:

1. Press and hold the "Water Filter" button on the Ice & Water Dispenser for 3 seconds.
2. When the display changes from Red to Green, the filter status has been reset.

For Models That Have A Replacement Indicator Light:

The replacement indicator light on the dispenser will turn orange when the water filter needs to be replaced soon.

When the light turns red or the flow of water to the dispenser or ice maker decreases, replace the water filter immediately.

For Models Without A Replacement Indicator Light:

The filter should be replaced every 6 months. If the flow of water to the dispenser or ice maker decreases replace the filter.

To Remove The Old Filter:

1. Slowly turn the old cartridge to the left. If fully turned, the cartridge should fall out naturally. (Do not pull on the cartridge; if it does not come out easily make sure that the filter is fully twisted to the left.)
2. It is suggested to apply the month and year sticker to the new cartridge to remind you to replace the filter in 6 months.

*If you happen to be replacing a SmartWater cartridge with an adapter, it must be removed before installing the cartridge. To remove the adapter, simply turn it to the left for about a 1/4 of a turn.

To Install The New Filter:

Your Refrigerator will illuminate a "Filter Indicator" light on the screen when the filter needs to be replaced.

To Remove The Old Filter:

1. To start, open the filter door.
2. Once open, pull on the bottom of the cartridge to allow it to swing outward.
3. When the filter cartridge can no longer swing, gently pull to unseat it from the cartridge holder.
4. A small amount of water may drip out.

* DO NOT TWIST THE FILTER CARTRIDGE!

To Install The New Filter:

1. Align the top of the filter cartridge with the cartridge holder with the word front facing outward.
2. Push the cartridge toward the rear of the unit until it is fully seated. (Do Not Twist The Cartridge!)
3. While continuing to ensure that the cartridge is fully seated in the holder, gently swing the filter inward until it is in position. (If the filter does not swing gently, check to ensure the filter is properly aligned and fully seated within the cartridge holder.)
4. You may now close the filter door.
5. To complete the replacement, run about 2 gallons of water through the cold-water dispenser. (It will take approximately 5 minutes.)

**DO NOT USE THE HANDS-FREE AUTO-FILL FEATURE!

6. A newly installed filter cartridge will cause the water to spurt from the dispenser, due to air being removed from the system.

To Reset The Filter Message (Non-Touch Screen Models):

1. Hold the "Reset Filter" button for 3 seconds to reset the filter display.
2. If done correctly, the filter display message should be reset.

2. Once located, turn the old filter counter clockwise, until it releases from the filter head.

4. During the initial use, allow about a 1-2 minute delay for the internal tank to fill with water.

When the display Shows the words "Filter" in Red, the filter will need to be replaced soon.

*When replacing the water filter, please note that any air trapped in the system may cause water and the filter cartridge to eject forcefully. Please use caution when removing the filter.

To Remove The Old Filter:

1. Locate the water filter on the base panel of your appliance.
2. Once located, push the filter cap in and rotate it counter clockwise 180 degrees until the cap is once again in a horizontal position.
3. Once turned, pull the old filter out of the refrigerator.
4. Now remove the cap from the old filter to finish removing the old filter. (The cap should easily pull off of the old filter.)

To Install The New Filter:

1. Remove the protective cap off of the new filter, and then push the cap from the old filter onto the new filter.
2. Then, push the filter with the cap on in a horizontal position all the way into the opening in the base panel.
3. Rotate the filter cartridge clockwise 180 degrees until the filter cap is once again in a horizontal position.
4. The filter should now be fully installed.
5. After installing the new filter, discard the first 24 hours of ice production.

To Reset The Filter Display Message:

1. Press and hold both the "Filter" change indicator button and the "Access" button for approximately 5 seconds until a beep is heard.
2. Once the "Filter" change indicator goes away, the filter indicator has been reset.

For Models With An External Water Dispenser:

When the filter needs to be replaced a "Filter" indicator light will appear on the display.

2. Once inserted, turn it clockwise (to the right) until it locks into place.

4. Dispense up to 3 gallons of water, in order to remove any trapped air or impurities. (Repeat this step each time the filter is replaced.)

To Remove The Old Filter:

1. Rotate the cartridge counter clockwise 1/4 turn, and then pull it out. (There will be water in the filter cartridge, so it is normal for a small amount of water to spill out.)
2. Discard the filter to complete the removal of the filter.

To Install The New Filter:

1. Remove the new filter from its packaging and carefully remove the plastic cap.
2. Then, insert the new filter into the manifold and turn it clockwise until the filter is seated in the unit.
3. If done correctly, the filter should be fully installed.

To Reset The Filter Display Message On Built-In (BI) Models:

1. Press and hold the filter reset button located on the left of the water filter for 5 seconds.
2. This will reset the water filter life monitor.

To Reset The Filter Display Message On PRO48 Series Models:

1. The control will automatically reset the water filter life monitor.
2. If the "Replace Filter" indicator is no longer displayed, the filter life monitor has been reset.

To Reset The Filter Display Message On New Generation Integrated Models:

1. To start, click "Reset Filter," this should result in a "Yes / No" prompt.
2. Choose yes, if the water filter is replaced and the timer needs to be reset.
3. If you choose no, you will exit this screen.

   If The Filter Display Message Is Not Present:

   1. Access the Option menu, by pressing the arrow on the left side of the home screen.
   2. Then access the Settings menu by pressing the gear icon on the options menu.
   3. Now, select "i" to access the Information menu.
   4. Click on "Filter" to access the Water and Air Filter menu.
   5. Once accessed, press and hold the "Dripping Water" icon on the far left to select the "Water Filter" settings.
   6. Now continue with the steps (listed above) when the change filter message is present.

1. Locate the filter open the ice maker door, and find the filter on the bottom left side.

1. Press the "Clean" key pad for 6 seconds.

   • Red - Replace the filter at this time.

To Remove The Old Filter:

1. Locate the filter cartridge on the bottom grille of the refrigerator.
2. Once located, press the eject button to the left of the filter cap, and then pull the cartridge straight out.
3. Now, remove the cap from the old filter by rotating it counter clockwise until it stops.
4. You may now discard the old filter.

To Install The New Filter:

1. Align the ridge on the filter cap with the arrow on the new replacement filter.
2. Once aligned, screw the cap clockwise onto the new filter until it stops.
3. Then, remove the covers from the O-rings, while making sure that the O-rings remain in place.
4. Push the filter into the opening in the base grille of the refrigerator until it clicks into place.
5. The filter should now be fully installed.

1. Press and hold the "Filter Reset" button for 2 seconds, until the filter reset message is reset.
