Abt shatters records with holidays sales and surpasses national retail sales averages

The numbers are in and Abt Electronics is breaking records again with holiday sales. Abt had a phenomenal Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend surpassing nationals' sales numbers and shattering their own online sales figures with a 40% increase in online sales and an 80% increase in mobile traffic.

4K TVs, Gaming Consoles, Headphones Dominate Holiday Shopping Trends, Abt Electronics Reports The retailer breaks an all-time record for online traffic on Cyber Monday with a 50% increase

GLENVIEW (December 2, 2015) — Black Friday and Cyber Monday jump-started the holiday shopping season with great deals on this year's most popular items. For the consumer electronics industry, shopping trends were fairly consistent with previous years' purchases thanks to unbeatable prices for high-tech 4K UHD TVs, gaming consoles, headphones, and other entertainment electronics, such as subwoofers and Blu-Ray Disc players, according to Abt Electronics, the nation's largest independent, single-store retailer of electronics and appliances.

Recognized and honored for its dedication to exceptional customer service both in its impressive showroom and on its thriving national e-commerce site, Abt experienced a significant traffic increase both in-store and online during 2015's biggest shopping days. With a 30% increase in in-store traffic on Black Friday, Abt topped previous years' sales by 25%, bucking the national trend of dropping sales for brick-and-mortar stores.

The retailer, as always, was closed on Thanksgiving Day for employees to enjoy time off with their families. But that didn't stop its online sales, with an increase of 25%, as consumers started their holiday shopping early. The boost in online sales prior to Cyber Monday showed that consumers, once again, did not wait until the biggest online shopping day of the year to begin their holiday purchases.

The increase in Thanksgiving online sales was followed by the 25% increase in Black Friday online sales and a whopping 40% increase in Cyber Monday sales. The retailer's website, which started operating in 1998, also broke its all-time traffic record with a 50% increase and an 80% increase in mobile traffic.

"We are very proud that Abt's online sales outpaced the impressive national sales numbers over the weekend," said Jon Abt, the retailer's Co-President. "But what we were really excited to see was that our in-store sales increased by double digits while the national average was down over 10 percent."

In addition to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Abt had a big weekend both in-store and online with an increase in sales by 30% over 2014.
