Abt Showcases Digital HD Radio™ Products
[Glenview, IL] - Abt announced that its retail store and website are now selling HD radio receivers and tuner modules that allow consumers to listen to a wide variety of HD Radio™ stations in their homes or cars. Abt carries products from some of the leading electronic manufacturers including Sony, Alpine, Boston Acoustics and Cambridge Soundworks. There are currently almost 1400 radio stations around the country playing over 2000 HD Radio channels (35 stations in Chicago broadcasting 53 channels).
"Our company has always supported new technology since our customers always ask for it. We are pleased to be able to offer HD Radio products on online and in our store." said Jon Abt, VP at Abt. "Our Chicagoland customers really benefit on this state of the art format since there are 53 new radio stations they can hear for free once they purchase the product."
HD Radio broadcasting is crystal-clear, subscription-free digital AM and FM radio. More than 1,300 HD radio stations across the country are offering over 600 new HD2 multicasting channels, or "stations between the stations." These additional stations offer new content to each local community including stations dedicated to classical, rock and roll, rap, hip hop, country, bluegrass, new age, oldies, alternative, and funk, among others. HD Radio receivers offer valuable information across their display screens, such as song title, artist, traffic, weather, news, school closings and other emergency alerts. HD Radio broadcasting delivers vastly superior sound: AM sounds like FM stereo; FM features CD-like quality. There is no monthly subscription fee for HD radio service.
Listeners can learn about which local radio stations broadcast in HD by listening for Abt advertisements that will soon run on several stations. Local HD Radio stations in the Chicago area include: WBBM, WCKG, WDRV, WGCI, JACK FM, Q101, WLIT, WLUP, WNUA, WVAZ, WLS, WGN, WOJO, The Score and more.
