How SVS Built Reference-Level Bass: Inside the 3000 R|Evolution Subwoofer Design

In this exclusive discussion, SVS subwoofer designer Smith Freeman and SVS President Gary Yacoubian go inside the engineering behind the new 3000 R|Evolution Series subwoofers.

Built on the same R|Evolution platform that powers SVS flagship models, the 3000 R|Evolution Series represents a complete rethinking of what’s possible from compact sealed and ported subwoofers. Smith and Gary break down how new advancements in driver design, MOSFET amplification, power management, and high-speed DSP work together to deliver deeper extension, greater output, and dramatically improved musical accuracy.

From forceful, room-energizing bass to subtle low-frequency detail and control, the 3000 R|Evolution Series brings reference-level subwoofer performance to real-world rooms—without compromise.

If you’re curious how modern subwoofer design unlocks both cinematic impact and audiophile-grade musicality, this behind-the-scenes look explains it all.
