• DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry)
  Thanks to patented DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry), the Onkyo P-80 Preamplifier delivers a vivid yet smooth and comfortable sound from any music source. DIDRC is a discrete signal control circuit developed to make digital sound sources such as CDs and music streaming services sound as natural as analog records. This technology has been further refined and is used in the P-80’s analog filter of the DAC and phono amplifier circuits.
• Foundational for Distortion-Less Sound
  Combine a fan-less design that eliminates noise, a premium stereo DAC (32bit / 768kHz) that reduces distortion, and an extrusion aluminum heat sink for vibration suppression, and this preamp lays a solid foundation for superior sound.
• Rigidity for Seismic Resistance
  The P-80 housing consists of two aluminum side panels and a steel top panel. This three-piece housing construction increases rigidity and improves seismic resistance. The “oval chassis” with oval press lines strengthens the bottom surface and disperses vibration for altogether improved sound quality.
• Further Distortion Reduction
  Hi-fi grade terminals, quality capacitors, and rigid front panels further reduce vibration and signal degradation. The P-80 has a phone circuit independent of other circuits. The P-80 is compatible with both MM and MC cartridges. The MC circuit is designed as discrete and accurately reproduces the output signal of a tiny MC cartridge without distortion.

• The Benefits of a Preamplifier
  A preamplifier receives the input signal from your device (music source) and applies tone controls to that signal. You have more control over your audio playback in terms of bass, treble, volume, and more. When Fidelity IQ (Auto Loudness function) is turned on, the system automatically provides optimal audio playback according to any volume in conjunction with the master volume. (This function operates independently of Tone Control and can be used in conjunction with Tone Control. Parameters are generated for the viewing environment using the setup microphone during initial setup.) But this Auto Loudness feature goes beyond correcting loudness characteristics. Onkyo’s sound quality engineers adjust the frequency response to provide the most emotional sound possible, regardless of musical genre. Select your source, tweak settings to your liking – which may vary depending on the speakers you listen through, the type of audio being played, the genre of music, etc. – and customize the experience accordingly.
