Unless you've stayed off the internet for the past few days, you may have heard that Apple has announced their latest iPhone series, the iPhone 17 family. It's one that we've been waiting for, and there have been a lot of rumors swirling around online about a new addition to the iPhone lineup. Every single member of the iPhone 17 collection is a true upgrade, and we're talking more than just new colors (although those are here, too). Read on to learn more about the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the exciting iPhone Air.

iPhone 17

The iPhone 17. It all starts with a brighter, larger screen at a full 6.3 inches. The Super Retina XDR display pairs with Apple's ProMotion technology for a screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3000 nits of brightness. What's more? With a screen that's 33% less reflective, you can easily stream, game, study and scroll with much less glare. This next-gen smartphone is designed for all-day battery life and charges quickly via USB-C, and features one of the latest chips from Apple: the A19. The A19 processing chip is made for Apple Intelligence and helps users push their phones to the edge of what's possible, from graphic design and top-tier filming to upgraded gaming. Paired with a battery that lasts all day, the mighty A19 chip has few limits—just like you. Finally, there's the Ceramic Shield 2; this shield protects the iPhone 17's display with upgraded scratch resistance ... all so that the iPhone 17 looks as flawless as it performs.

It wouldn't be an upgraded iPhone if we didn't touch on the incredible camera. The smartphone is equipped with a new Center Stage Front camera. The 18MP lens pairs with Apple's Center Stage tech, which keeps you in the center of the photo. And when friends join you to photobomb your selfie, Center Stage zooms back to keep you all in the middle of the action. Then, there are the rear cameras. The 48MP Fusion Main camera features 2x optical-quality telephoto for snapping detailed far-away shots, while the 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera has 4x the resolution of the Ultra Wide camera on the iPhone 16. These cameras establish the iPhone 17 as an extreme upgrade over its predecessors, especially for anyone who loves snapping photos everywhere they go. iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max

The iPhone 17 Pro is where things kick into high gear. Labeled "The Most Powerful iPhone Ever" by Apple, this smartphone emphasizes the smart ... but it begins with an all-new construction, a redesign that transformed the iPhone from the ground up. The iPhone 17 Pro had to be crafted anew so that it could both efficiently cool the A19 Pro chip and fit a massive battery inside. The unibody case is made from aluminum for a light body and upgraded thermal conductivity, all while the internal vapor chamber uses deionized water to move heat away from the A19 Pro chip when it heats up and needs to perform. All the while, there's enough space for the upgraded battery: 33 hours of video playback on the iPhone 17 Pro, and 39 hours on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. And with a quick 20-minute charge, these smartphones will be 50% charged with help from a high-wattage power adapter.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max both sport upgrades to the body and screen, like the Ceramic Shield on the back and the Ceramic Shield 2 on the front of the screen for extra protection. And the 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays are outfitted with Super Retina XDR displays, anti-reflection treatment and ProMotion tech for up to 120Hz refresh rate—whatever you're watching, scrolling through or playing, you'll see it looking its best. And with a truly upgraded camera system, you'll be able to capture the world around you in Pro mode.

One of the number one reasons people choose the Pro model of an iPhone? The camera. And the iPhone 17 Pro does not disappoint. It has the longest iPhone Telephoto capabilities yet, with the equivalent of 200 mm focal length, up to 8 times the optical-quality zoom, plus three different 48MP rear cameras. Go from 8x zoom all the way to macro photography and everywhere in between with these upgraded cameras and the phone that powers them. The Fusion Main camera, Fusion Ultra Wide camera, and Fusion Telephoto camera all combine to help you take close-ups, nature shots, photos of friends and any picture you can imagine. Then there's the front-facing 18MP camera with Center Stage. Center Stage helps keep you perfectly centered in the middle of a selfie, and zooms out to include friends as they jump into the picture. You can capture video in 4K at 60FPS in front and 4K 120FPS Dolby Vision with the rear cameras—you can even capture video from both the front and rear cameras at the same time. It doesn't stop there: pro-level camera and video features let you capture the world and your scenes as you want them seen. ProRes RAW files give artists complete control of the images they capture for true precision.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are available in Silver, Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue. Choose between 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage for the Pro, or 256GB, 512GB, 1TB or 2TB of space for the Pro Max.

iPhone Air

While it doesn't bear the name "iPhone 17", this thin phone was launched alongside them and has the tagline "With the power of Pro inside", so we'll include it as an honorable mention. There's never been an iPhone this thin or weightless: at 5.6 mm thick and weighing just 165 grams, it's a completely redesigned smartphone with a large 6.5-inch display. The redesign starts from the frame up, with a recycled titanium body, a redesigned plateau that houses lots of tech—more than just a camera—and makes room for as large a battery as possible. The iPhone Air uses the A19 Pro chip for fast performance, even when you're working with heavy-hitting programs for graphic design, gaming and video editing. The A19 Pro combines the fastest smartphone CPU with iPhone's most advanced GPU to date, all so you can make the most of top-tier games on a skinny, portable phone. And everything inside is protected by dual Ceramic Shields, one that protects the back and one that protects the front, making this iPhone more resistant to scratches and cracks than ever.

Two cameras, one on the front and one in the rear, are both incredibly optimized multitaskers. The 48MP rear camera is truly multiple cameras in one and does more than you'd expect. Snap pics in extra-high resolution with 48MP, use the 2x Telephoto setting to zoom in or take classic photos with 24MP by default. Flip things around to the front camera for the iPhone Air's 18MP Center Stage front camera. Make yourself the center of the action even if you move the phone, or add friends and let the composition center itself. Even rotate from portrait to landscape mode without needing to turn the iPhone Air. Have fun with some of the other features you'd find on the iPhone 17 family, too, like capturing video from both cameras at once and keeping things extra-stabilized as you snap shots. Internal tech helps you make the most of every photo too, with features like low-light and Night mode photography as well as Clean Up—to help you remove unwanted objects and people from your photos.
