The New Fontana Pizza Oven, The Volta, Is Here
Grilling season is about more than just cheeseburgers and steaks; outdoor pizza ovens have grown popular in recent years, and there are incredible reasons why, from the high-powered heat you can't find in a traditional range to the experience of classic Italian-style pizza crafting. And now, there's the Volta by Fontana, a smart-style gas/wood grill that fuses smart tech with the elements of brick oven Italian pizza crafting. You'll find no sacrifices here; no overused technology or useless features. Easy-to-use controls make every cooking session simple and fun. With two sizes to choose from, dual food probes, a digital display and a dial that lets you truly control the temperature, the new Fontana pizza oven is a great addition for any home that's ready to get started with outdoor cooking ... and would love a few extra intelligent features.
The Authenticity of Fontana Cooking
But first, is a pizza oven right for your backyard? These flexible cookers are an incredible addition to any home chef's collection thanks to Fontana Forni and the brand's incredible design. The San Lorenzo in Campo brand crafts all of their pizza ovens in Italy, including the new Volta. A fresh design for 2026, the Volta brings the best elements of stone-based Italian ovens to the table. And the family-based brand would know—they've been creating pizza ovens for decades. Even in the newest Fontana Forni pizza ovens like the Volta, you can trust that you're investing in authentic Italian cooking.
Meet The Volta
A translation of the Italian term for "time," "turn" or even "vault," the Volta is the latest Fontana Forni pizza oven and is packed with next-gen features. The Fontana Volta is all about staying in control. In some classic models, all you can do is light the fuel, add your pizza to the oven, and try cooking it correctly as you spin the pie around in an 800°F oven (at least, you hope the heat is that high if you don't have a display or thermometer). With the Volta, there's no need to guess. The Fontana Forni pizza oven features a digital control panel that lets you choose what temperature you want the oven to be ... and it keeps the temperature there. Other models will tell you what the heat level is, but you won't be able to control things with the simple twist of a dial or tap of a button. This model is designed with precision and ease of use in mind, all while delivering that authentic taste you could only find from an Italian oven made by the experts at Fontana Forni.
Temperature Controls & Thermometers
There's more to a pizza oven than just high heat, though, and the Volta is packed with smart features that make cooking everything from steaks and chops to classic pizzas and desserts an easy task. Users can easily control the oven from the bright blue LCD display, setting temperatures and adjusting settings until the cooker is ready for your recipe. But what about long cooks that take time and precision? Two temperature probes connect to the Volta and can easily keep track of whatever you're cooking—they're great for checking on foods like roasts and steaks. There are even small openings in the pizza oven's door that let the thermometer probe wires slide right through, all while keeping the heat inside. Once your recipes reach the right temperature, you'll know it's time to take your perfectly cooked foods out. Between a notification on the app and on the Fontana pizza oven's display, it will be hard to miss.
Customize Your Flame
Whether you're making pizzas, chops, desserts or side dishes, the Fontana Forni Volta is an all-new hub for backyard flame that you can control your way. While some of the brand's pizza ovens are fueled by wood fire, this model brings the heat with liquid propane, or you can use a kit to swap propane for natural gas. That doesn't mean that there's no chance to bring flavorful, fiery wood into the equation. If you're in the mood for that smoky flavor, hybrid cooking is here. Place wood right atop the fiery burner and bring that smoky flavor to everything you're cooking, from classic pies to beautiful proteins, sides and even desserts. With the Volta, it's easy to cook the recipes you want, with the fuel you love, at the perfect temperature. Please note that you'll need a 110V electric outlet (a classic power outlet) to power the display and gas valve.
Easy Access With The App
The Volta can be controlled from the Fontana Forni pizza oven app as well, ensuring that you don't need to spend minutes, hours or afternoons in front of the Volta pizza oven. While the oven can work with or without Wi-Fi, when you connect the Volta to Wi-Fi and set up the app, the smart outdoor oven is yours to control. Keep an eye on live temperatures for both the pizza oven and the temperature probes, and even turn the oven off from your smartphone when foods are finished cooking. Thanks to the app, backyard chefs have the chance to step away from their pizza ovens when necessary—a great option for recipes that take a long time to cook, like hearty roasts.
Finally, Cooking Beautiful Pizzas
Apps, thermometers and smart tech are all impressive, but what about moments when all you want to make is a classic pizza, or a few of them to feed a crowd? The Volta's high heat settings and stone base make crafting gorgeous pizzas an easy process, and making them with your favorite ingredients is more fun than ever. Choose the oven size that fits your needs best; the Volta 70 can fit two 12-inch pizzas, while the Volta 90 can fit three or even four of these full-sized pizzas at the same time. Serving and enjoying outdoors is just part of the fun of comfortable patio dining furniture. If you're looking to complete your outdoor space, come see our collection at Abt.

That depends on the fuel source. If it's a wood-fired oven, build a fire on the left side while keeping the door a bit open and the chimney damper clear. For gas-powered ovens, open the door, then follow the directions for your specific oven. For many, you'll turn the knob and push in as you press the igniter. You may need to hold the knob down to heat the thermocouple. Whichever fuel, wait about 20 minutes until your oven heats up. As you cook your pizza, the side closest to the fire will cook quickly, so use a turning peel to help the pizza cook evenly on each side.

That depends on your lifestyle. We think it's worth it, especially if you have a family with kids or love hosting. Families can have fun making new recipes, or pizza fanatics can ensure that their favorites come out tasting exquisite. Pizza ovens are great additions to any outdoor kitchen as well.
