Abt Electronics To Sell Life Fitness Equipment For The Home

Known as an oasis for the shopper seeking the finest in home electronics and high-end luxury items, Abt Electronics is expanding its offering to include the best in home fitness equipment. The company will display and offer Life Fitness exercise products at its 70,000-square-foot store located in Glenview, Ill., as well as on its Web site at www.abt.com.

"We look forward to working with Abt Electronics and are honored that they have selected us as their premier partner to bring fitness to their product offering," said Brent Hutton, vice president of consumer business for Life Fitness. "We are always looking for ways to reach a new customer-base and we felt that partnering with another well-known Chicago company was the right choice for us."

Select Life Fitness models will be displayed in a 450-square-foot home gym setting and will be decorated by Life Fitness imagery. Abt will sell the company's premier line of health-club quality equipment for the home, the Platinum Club Series. This innovative line of cardio machines includes the latest tools in fitness technology including integrated LCD touch screens, iPod compatibility, a Virtual Trainer, Workout Landscape Perspectives and USB connectivity to create, store and track workout information.

"Life Fitness was the perfect fit for us seeing as we have already used their equipment in our corporate fitness facility for the last nine years," said Mike Abt, president of Abt Electronics. "Since we already knew the equipment was dependable, we wanted to share the wealth with our customers. Abt Electronics began in 1936 when Jewel Abt gave $800 to her husband David to start a business. Originally named Abt Radio (because it only sold small electronics), Abt Electronics has since become the place to shop for many people in the Midwest. Starting with three employees in a small storefront in the Logan Square area of Chicago, Abt Electronics has grown to more than 1,100 employees and occupies 37 acres in Glenview Ill., a suburb of Chicago. Abt now operates 60 large delivery trucks, 45 custom installation trucks, and more than 100 service vans.
