The first step in your buying journey is to know your power source, as gas required a gas line and a 110V power source and electric needs either a 110V or 220V power source. The second step is to know your measurements. This video goes in-depth, teaching you exactly what numbers and dimensions you need to ensure your new cooktop will fit into your countertop perfectly. Abt offers four different kinds of cooktops: gas, pro-range top, electric and induction. Gas cooktops can be 12-46 inches in width and provide one to six sealed burners, at least one of which will be high output. Sealed burners make cleaning your appliance a lot easier. Pro-range tops are similar to gas cooktops although they function at a much higher level. These range tops can be 30-48 inches in width and provide four to eight burners. The middle of these burners can often function as a griddle grill top or a French clock.
