TVs: 4K Televisions, 8K, OLED, QLED and Beyond
When it comes to home entertainment, the television rules all. From the days of tube TVs and antennas to our current environment of Blu-ray players and streaming, it's always been about gathering together. Make the most of your next watch session with new, high-powered screens that will make your favorite shows, films and games seem reimagined. If it's been a while since you've shopped, know that technology has changed—a lot, and for the better. HD used to be a luxury, now it's the standard. LED isn't the only way to illuminate your screen. And sizes have only gotten larger. Learn all about the TVs that might be perfect for you and your home with Abt's broad collection of screens.
Reframe Your Resolution
There's no way to lose in today's world of high-resolution televisions, but there are lots of ways to create your perfect entertainment experience. Ultra-HD screens make it harder and harder to see individual pixels for viewing that feels completely natural to the eye. 4K TVs are generally considered the standard in today's realm, with a full 3,840 by 2,160 pixels. These screens often include a processing chip that boosts resolution as you watch, sharpening lines and refining the picture of older films and even live broadcasts in real-time. Things get even better with 8K TVs as well—these versions go even farther, duplicating the number of pixels in a 4K model for an unbeatable experience. These next-gen TVs showcase 7,680 by 4,320 pixels and are perfect for those who are looking for the highest clarity they can find on the market today. Even more powerful upscaling computer chips within ensure you see everything in the highest definition possible.
New Displays: Should I Choose OLED or QLED?
Whether you opt for standard definition or upgrade all the way to 8K, there's more to consider, like the screen technologies that color and illuminate new TVs. All of these screens will deliver a beautiful viewing experience, but they're not all the same. The three largest contenders in the ring? Classic LED, QLED, and OLED technologies. LED is the one you're likely most experienced with, and contains a lit panel that illuminates everything from the moment it's turned on. Meanwhile, QLED screens are popular among Samsung TVs and use quantum dot technology. These tiny crystals glow bright in front of a blue LED backlight, all fusing together for colors that are more vibrant than anything you could find in a regular LED screen. Brighter whites and excellent colors set these models apart from the others.
Their largest contender? OLED TVs. While QLEDs use a backlight to illuminate their exciting technology, OLED models have no backlight at all. Organic light-emitting diodes are the high-tech layer of pixels that covers these TVs—and each one can be turned on or off at the individual level. With no backlight, you'll see darker blacks than ever available before via both QLED or LED tech. Organic colors bloom into life as well for an infinite contrast ratio you'll see in everything you watch. The downside? Their brightness levels can't compete with QLED models. When choosing between these technologies, consider what features matter most to you.
