KEF SP4056W0AA R11 Meta 3-Way Floorstanding Loudspeaker in Walnut (Each)

The KEF R11 Meta SP4056W0AA in Walnut is the largest floorstanding model in the R Series and its flagship three-way passive loudspeaker. Created for high-fidelity two-channel listening as well as coordinated home-theatre systems, it brings technologies drawn from KEF's The Reference line into a design focused on detailed, emotionally engaging reproduction. A 12th generation Uni-Q driver array, four 6.5 in hybrid aluminium bass drivers and a three-way bass reflex architecture give the speaker the scale to uncover delicate recording information while retaining the power, agility and low-frequency impact demanded by dynamic music and movies.

R11 Meta is designed to make a natural, detailed presentation available beyond a narrow center seat. Uni-Q distributes sound more evenly around the room, while Metamaterial Absorption Technology addresses unwanted energy from behind the driver to help reduce distortion. Shadow Flare manages the high-frequency transition between the array and cabinet, preserving treble clarity and subtle recording cues. Together, these technologies support the R Series goal of retrieving delicate detail without sacrificing the authority expected from its largest floorstanding model.

The four bass units combine aluminium skins with paper cones to balance rigidity, punch and speed, while their magnet system is engineered for greater bass impact. Inside the enclosure, performance-critical damping limits cabinet coloration, and the carefully developed reflex port helps prevent turbulence and resonance from intruding on the midrange. A dedicated magnetic microfibre grille completes the clean R Series styling. Each R11 Meta is sold as a single loudspeaker1, making it possible to build a stereo pair or expand into an immersive R Series movie system with matching floorstanding, bookshelf, center, surround and subwoofer models.2

Key Features

12th Generation Uni-Q Technology

The vented 1 in aluminium-dome tweeter sits at the acoustic center of the 5 in aluminium midrange cone. By allowing the array to act as a single point source, this configuration aligns its output and promotes consistent dispersion across the listening area.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology

MAT places a maze-like acoustic structure behind the driver. KEF states that it absorbs 99% of unwanted rear radiation, reducing the resulting distortion so music and movie soundtracks retain a purer, more natural character.

A Flare for Detail

Shadow Flare extends the waveguide effect through a carefully profiled transition around Uni-Q. Limiting high-frequency diffraction at the cabinet edge helps preserve fine information in the upper registers.

Performance Critical Damping

Internal braces are connected to the cabinet through a lossy interface. This constrained-layer approach converts unwanted vibration into heat, allowing the enclosure to contribute less audible coloration to playback.

True Bass Definition

Each low-frequency driver places a shallow concave aluminium skin over a paper cone. The stiff hybrid construction and cone geometry encourage piston-like motion, while a broad, uniform magnetic field supports fast, forceful bass response.

Flexible Port for Cleaner Bass

Computational fluid dynamics informs the port flare and profile, and flexible walls help delay the onset of turbulence. The design also moves resonances away from the midrange, where they could otherwise color vocals and instruments.

Dedicated Microfibre Grille

The suede-like, multi-layer grille uses magnetic fixings and 1801 precision-cut holes shaped for the individual drivers. It is engineered to maintain acoustic performance whether fitted for a finished appearance or removed.

Features

  • Flagship Three-Way Bass Reflex Design
Separate high-, mid- and low-frequency elements provide wide-range reproduction in the R Series' largest floorstander.
  • 12th Gen Uni-Q Driver Array
A 1 in vented aluminium-dome tweeter and 5 in aluminium midrange cone create integrated output from one array.
  • Metamaterial Absorption Technology
Controls rearward driver energy before it can introduce unwanted distortion.
  • Four 6.5 in Hybrid Aluminium Bass Drivers
Four low-frequency cones supply the punch and scale needed for demanding music and movie playback.
  • Shadow Flare
Controls diffraction where the driver array meets the cabinet to protect high-frequency detail.
  • Performance Critical Damping
Reduces enclosure vibration so cabinet sound has less influence on the listening experience.
  • Flexible Port
A computed flare and compliant walls manage airflow and help prevent port resonance from coloring the midrange.
  • Dedicated Microfibre Grille
The suede-like magnetic cover combines precision-cut openings with clean R Series styling.
  • 15 - 300W Amplifier Range
Supports KEF's recommended amplifier power range from 15 to 300W.
  • Home-Theatre Versatility
Coordinates with matching R Series speakers and subwoofers to create a multichannel system.

Warranty Information

  • drivers: 5 years from the original purchase date
  • electronics: 2 years from the original purchase date
  • accessory: 2 years from the original purchase date

Footnotes:

1 R11 Meta is sold as each, not as a pair.

2 Matching home-theatre speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers and other optional system components are sold separately and are not included with this product.

Use the supplied plinth with R11 Meta and place the loudspeaker on a solid, stable, level surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • KEF recommends an amplifier rated from 15 to 300W. The loudspeaker has 90 dB sensitivity, 4 Ohms nominal impedance, and a minimum impedance of 3.2 Ohms.
  • With the terminal and plinth, each loudspeaker measures 51.0 in. high x 12.2 in. wide x 15.1 in. deep and weighs 80.5 lbs. With the terminal but without the plinth, it measures 49.2 in. high x 7.9 in. wide x 15.1 in. deep.
  • The three-way bass reflex design uses a 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with a 1 in. vented aluminium-dome tweeter with MAT and a 5 in. aluminium-cone midrange driver. Four 6.5 in. hybrid aluminium-cone bass drivers handle low frequencies.
  • Yes. KEF says the R Series is engineered to perform with or without its dedicated grille. The included magnetic microfibre grille has 1801 precision-cut holes for the drivers and uses a multi-layer, suede-like material.
  • The box includes one loudspeaker, one microfibre grille, one plinth and spike accessory set, two port bungs, and a user manual with warranty information. Matching home-theatre speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, and other optional system components are sold separately.
