At the center of the R7 Meta is KEF's 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology. The 5 in aluminium midrange cone and 1 in vented aluminium dome tweeter work together as a single point source, spreading natural, detailed sound more evenly throughout the room instead of restricting the experience to one narrow listening position. MAT controls unwanted energy from the rear of the driver, helping the array deliver purer sound with the transparency needed for finely textured vocals, instruments and cinematic effects. Shadow Flare further supports clean treble by extending the Uni-Q waveguide effect and reducing high-frequency cabinet diffraction.

Two 6.5 in hybrid aluminium bass drivers give music and movies the punch, speed and dynamic low-frequency impact the R7 Meta was designed to deliver. A flexible bass reflex port manages turbulence and resonances, while constrained layer damping helps keep cabinet vibration from intruding on the performance. MAT places a complex maze-like structure behind the tweeter to absorb 99% of unwanted sound radiating from the rear of the driver.¹ Preventing that energy from returning through the diaphragm reduces the distortion that can obscure natural tone and low-level information.

The 12th generation Uni-Q array behaves as a single acoustic source, aligning the midrange and treble so sound reaches the room with greater consistency.
