REL Acoustics HT/1205MKII BLACK Serie HT 12-Inch Powered Subwoofer in Black (Each)

The REL Acoustics HT/1205MKII BLACK Serie HT powered home-theater subwoofer combines a 12 in long-throw CarbonGlas driver, a built-in 500-watt RMS Class D amplifier and in-room low-frequency extension of -6 dB at 22 Hz. Its sealed, front-firing enclosure works with PerfectFilters analogue circuitry to add cinematic scale while integrating bass with the other speakers. Recommended for small to medium rooms up to 400 square feet, it also supports music listening in systems with a subwoofer output. RCA low-level/LFE inputs provide the wired connection, while the line-grained black cabinet and high-gloss lacquered top give the theater-first design a visually restrained finish.

Key Features

Designer Exterior in Black

Horizontal line-grain on the composite cabinet keeps the body visually restrained, while the top plate receives five coats of hand-rubbed high-gloss black lacquer. The inset logo and polished surface echo the design language of Serie T/x and Serie S, helping the subwoofer coordinate visually with those subwoofers in a shared installation. The rigid, closed-box enclosure also damps cabinet vibration.

12 in Long-Throw CarbonGlas Driver

The glass-fiber main cone and inverted carbon-fiber center cap combine low moving mass with stiffness, with a steel chassis supporting the assembly. An upgraded magnetic system and revised suspension help the long-throw driver respond to sudden effects and reproduce bass texture in music as demand rises.

500 Watts RMS of Built-In Power

No separate power amplifier is needed for the subwoofer: its NextGen5 Class D amplification is built in. A revised power supply and thicker circuit boards support power delivery for soundtrack dynamics as well as music playback. Fully electronic Set Safe, DC-fault and output-short protection are also included.

PerfectFilters Analogue Bass Control

Fast analogue crossovers, bass-extension filtering and integrated limiting work together to preserve impact and control. A subsonic filter addresses soundtrack infra-noise below driver resonance, helping maintain control near the driver's limits. Secondary filters are designed to strengthen the realism of pressure changes in movie effects.

RCA Low-Level/LFE Inputs and Daisy-Chain Outputs

Stereo low-level RCA or a single LFE RCA input gives systems with a subwoofer output a direct wired connection. Dedicated .1/LFE operation also allows this theater subwoofer to work alongside Reference, Serie S or Serie T/x subwoofers. Low-level and LFE daisy-chain outputs provide connections for additional units; a signal interconnect is not supplied.

Optional HT-Air MKII Wireless Connection

The compatible HT-Air MKII system, sold separately, replaces a long RCA signal-cable run with a wireless link. Wireless hardware is not built in or included, and the subwoofer still needs AC power using the supplied 6 ft power cord.

Movies, Music and Multi-Subwoofer Systems

The theater-first design is not limited to special effects: mixed-use systems can also use the subwoofer for music through a compatible subwoofer output. When planning a stereo pair or 3D theater arrangement, matching Serie HT units is recommended for consistent voicing.
