Yamaha RX500ABL 7.2-Channel 8K Home Theater AV Receiver

The Yamaha RX500ABL 7.2-channel 8K home theater AV receiver brings Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersion, 5.2.2 speaker-layout support and 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 120 Hz video to movies, TV and gaming. Four HDMI inputs and one eARC-equipped output connect your sources and return TV audio, while Room Correction uses the included microphone to adjust for your speakers and room. Wi-Fi, Ethernet, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth 5.3 Multipoint make music streaming part of the same system, and four Scene presets recall favorite input and sound settings for everyday listening.

Key Features

Immersive 7.2-Channel Sound

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X create spatial sound that surrounds listeners and can extend overhead. Build a 5.2.2 speaker layout with in-ceiling or up-firing speakers for overhead effects, or use a 7.2 arrangement with virtual height. Seven amplifier channels and two subwoofer pre-outs provide the connections for these home theater configurations.

HDMI 2.1 Picture and Gaming Support

High-resolution video is only part of the picture: Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Hybrid Log-Gamma support bring HDR compatibility to movie and television sources. VRR, ALLM and QMS round out the video capabilities for a system used for both movies and gaming. HDMI switching lets you select among connected sources, with eARC handling audio returned from the TV.

Network Streaming and Bluetooth Multipoint

Stream music, podcasts and audiobooks over Wi-Fi, or connect to your network through Ethernet. Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Google Cast and AirPlay 2 offer several ways to bring music into your listening routine, alongside internet radio and podcasts. For Bluetooth playback, Multipoint lets you switch between two paired devices.

Guided Setup and Room Correction

Guided connections and on-screen settings help you configure the system before you settle in to listen. The supplied setup microphone measures room and speaker characteristics for automatic adjustment, so calibration responds to your actual listening space. A microphone stand is also included for setup.

Four Scene Presets and Seven Listening Modes

Recall input and sound settings with four Scene presets instead of selecting them again each time you change activities. Pure Direct, Straight, Movie, All Channel Stereo, 2 Channel Stereo, Music and Night modes give you content-dependent listening choices. Dialogue Level, Subwoofer Trim, Extra Bass and Lip Sync add adjustments for voices, bass and sound-to-picture alignment.

Flexible Speaker and Source Connections

Zone B and bi-amp capability provide additional speaker-configuration options. Beyond HDMI, two analog RCA inputs, an optical input and a coaxial input accommodate audio sources, while USB supports music-file playback from a mass storage device. An FM tuner and headphone output add radio listening and a headphone connection to the same system.

Listening-Led Yamaha Engineering

Yamaha draws on its DSP-1 history, instrument-making and professional acoustics experience in shaping the receiver's sound. Signal paths, wiring and component layout are refined through listening evaluation, while heat management around the HDMI area helps protect processing components.

A.R.T. Wedge Vibration Control

A center-mounted A.R.T. Wedge fifth foot works with the four outer feet to disperse vibration. This mechanical design complements the receiver's signal-path and layout refinements, addressing vibration as part of its audio engineering.
