Family at Abt!
It's the holiday season, and it's time to spend more time closer to family. That's an easy task for so many here at Abt, we are a family business, but you'd probably be surprised to learn how many different families work here. We're excited to highlight just a few of these families and family members this holiday season. And there's more to come... look for more of our ongoing "Family at Abt" series in 2025!
Tracey & Larry Luttrell
This father-daughter duo have been working at Abt for over 47 years collectively. Larry has been here for 34 years and Tracey has been working at Abt for over 13 years. Currently, Larry works in Appliance Sales and Tracey is in Custom Kitchens.
Sarah & Emily Murray
Sisters-in-law Sarah and Emily have been working together at Abt for nearly three years. Sarah, who started working here in 2012, always told Emily to apply at Abt when she was ready to re-enter the workforce after being a stay-at-home mom. You can find Sarah in Accounting, while Emily works in Customer Service.
Jessie & Dylan Abt
The fourth generation of the Abt family, these cousins are making their rounds and learning the ins and outs of the family business. Jessie is currently in Dispatch and Dylan is in Customer Service.
Tom & Saxon Kotowski
Saxon has always looked up to his grandfather, Tom. Now he has the privilege of working alongside him. When Tom started working in Appliance Sales at Abt a full 39 years ago, Saxon was not yet born. Little did he know that 35 years later his grandson would follow in his footsteps.
Nina & Shirley Hood
Shirley, known as “The Voice of Abt,” wears many hats around here—creating marketing content, writing scripts and filming commercials. Nina, who essentially grew up at Abt by her mother's side, now works in the Builders Division. This dynamic mother-daughter duo loves to collaborate at work whenever they can. Keep an eye out for the new Abt holiday commercial that Shirley produced with Nina's assistance.
Kal & Vipra Madhiwala
Working at Abt is truly a family affair for the Madhiwalas! Kal, a dedicated member of our team for over 25 years, serves as one of our General Managers. His wife, Vipra, is going on two years in Appliance Service. Their son, Vraj, is a seasonal employee, lending a hand during our busy holiday season in the Cashiers department.
George & Maria Mavraganis
Over 20 years ago when Abt's Glenview location was being built, Bob Abt would frequent Johnny’s Kitchen and Tap just down the road. There, he befriended and recruited George to join the Abt sales force. As for George's daughter, from cookie girl to Customer Service Manager, Maria is always making her dad proud.
Maura & Matt Moser
The Moser siblings have almost 20 years of combined experience working here at Abt. Maura has been part of the Abt family for 13 years and is now our Media Manager, collaborating with brands to maximize their marketing efforts across all of Abt's channels. Matt is in Sales, specializing in HVAC, home comfort, garage doors and grills.
Jake & Dave Iffland
There is no IT problem too big or too small for this father and son. Dave, who has been with Abt for over 36 years, brought his then six-year-old son to "Bring Your Kid to Work Day" back in 2008. Now, when they're not in the IT office together, you can find Dave and Jake on the ice playing for Abt's hockey team.
Rey & Rigo Mora
The Mora Brothers have been working in Abt's warehouse for 16 and 15 years. Rey started first and a year later his little brother (by two years and two days) joined. They have worked their way up and now manage the entire warehouse, which covers over half a million square feet of space. Every day, they ensure it remains organized, functional and spotless.
