Cicada Audio CH65.2V2 6.5-Inch 2-Ohm Coaxial Horn Speakers (Pair)

Cicada Audio CH65.2V2 brings the CH Series high-performance, full-range coaxial horn approach to motorcycle audio in a pair of 6.5-inch, 2-Ohm speakers. Designed especially for 2014 and newer H-D factory speaker locations, it gives riders and installers a high-sensitivity solution for fairings and other common powersports applications. The lightweight drivers are also suited to custom baffles, while water- and UV-resistant cone construction broadens their potential use to cars, trucks, boats, and UTVs.

Each speaker combines a treated paper mid-bass cone with an aluminum horn-tweeter diaphragm for an efficient, lively presentation across the audio range. The cone's light, rigid construction helps translate amplifier power into output, while the tweeter is designed for brighter, more efficient high frequencies. OFC copper wire in the tweeter voice coil promotes conductivity and limits heat generation. An N35SH neodymium magnet supplies a high-energy motor without unnecessary mass, and the custom-tooled die-cast aluminum basket adds a rigid foundation with Vortex Flow Venting. A removable threaded horn flange also makes cosmetic color modification easier.

The CH65.2V2 can anchor either a straightforward passive system or a more adjustable bi-amped installation. Two custom passive crossover networks are included, giving each horn tweeter 12dB-per-octave high-pass protection; the crossover or an appropriately configured active crossover/DSP should be engaged before operation or tuning.1 Installers can instead place the mid-bass and horn sections on dedicated amplifier or DSP channels to manage level and crossover behavior separately. Secure mounting to a flat baffle, a sealed speaker frame, correct polarity, and sound-deadening material in the fairing, bag, or door skin can further support system performance. With flexible wiring options and construction selected for demanding vehicle environments, this coaxial pair is ready for purpose-built motorcycle audio as well as a wide range of custom mobile-audio projects.

Key Features

High-Sensitivity Full-Range Response

The mid-bass section uses a 2.0 in, 2-Ohm high-temperature Black Coat voice coil, while the horn carries a 1.4 in aluminum-diaphragm high-temperature voice coil. Published response extends from 75Hz to 20kHz, and average sensitivity is listed at 99dB at 1W/1M (2.83V), helping the speaker pair deliver strong output from a compact coaxial layout.

Passive Attenuation or Dedicated Channels

The supplied networks support conventional passive wiring, and two included 4-Ohm resistors give installers a way to reduce horn level by about 3dB when fitted as directed.2 In a bi-amped or fully active system, independent amplifier/DSP paths allow separate tuning of the mid-bass and tweeter sections.

Custom-Installation Details

The threaded horn flange can be removed to simplify visual color changes. Cicada Audio also recommends fastening each driver securely to a flat baffle, sealing the frame against air leaks, and applying sound-deadening treatment to the surrounding panel or enclosure. Mounting screws are not supplied because the speakers are intended for varied custom-install situations.

Routes the mid-bass and horn sections to dedicated channels for independent system adjustment.
  • Klippel Verified and Tested
Uses manufacturer-stated acoustic engineering and performance testing.

Footnotes:

1 The horn tweeter must be high-passed. Use the included passive network unless a suitable active crossover or DSP configuration is in place.

2 Install one supplied 4-Ohm resistor in line with each tweeter crossover path as directed when attenuation is desired.

Hearing warning: Prolonged exposure above 100dB can cause permanent hearing loss. Listen with restraint.
