Things to consider

Five questions that decide which KitchenAid tier is right for your kitchen, answered before the shopping starts.

01

Quiet doesn't climb with price

KitchenAid rates the five picks at 47, 41, 44, 44 and 44 dBA, so the 324 is quieter than the 424, 624 and 724. Every 3 dBA doubles sound power, so the 224's 47 is about four times the 324's 41. KitchenAid's quietest model, the flush KDTF924 at 39 dBA, is shown as unavailable at Abt in stainless. If your kitchen opens onto the living room, start with the 324.

02

Pick the third rack, not just the price tier

The 224 has a utensil rack. The 324 has a third level jet rack with dedicated wash jets for mugs and bowls. From the 424 up, the 360° Max Jets third rack is the one KitchenAid says is the only third rack with 360° wash jets, cleaning glasses, mugs and bowls inside and out. It fits 10 extra glasses and mugs compared with KitchenAid's earlier KDTE204K and KDFE204K models.

Built In Dishwashers at Abt
03

Match the drying system to what you wash

ProDry (224, 324, 424) combines a heating element, water repellent tech and natural ventilation. Advanced ProDry (624, 724) adds fans, and a ProDry Max option extends the drying cycle. All five finish with an automatic door-open dry that opens the door slightly after the cycle to release moisture, so leave room for it. If you wash a lot of plastic, the 624 is the step that matters.

The Best Dishwashers of 2026 at Abt
04

Front or top controls, and check the depth

The 224, 324 and 424 have controls on the front of the door. The 624 and 724 hide them on the top edge, with a color-changing indicator light on the door front showing cycle progress. All five picks have pocket handles and are 24 1/2 inches deep. Abt also lists bar-handle versions of several tiers (KDTS324SPS, KDTS624SPS, KDTS724SPS) that run roughly 2 inches deeper, so measure your cutout.

Dishwasher Buying Guide
05

Treat the finish as a price decision

PrintShield Stainless is the baseline. Juniper and Black Ore come with matching handles, and optional handle kits come in Brass, Bronze, Black Ore and Stainless Steel. At Abt the colors consistently cost more than stainless, so check the live price difference for your tier before you choose a finish.

Each entry opens with the one sentence we'd say out loud if you asked, then the specs, the price and the honest trade-off.

1 Tier 224 47 dBA · 13 place settings

Best Budget KitchenAid Dishwasher KitchenAid KDFS224SPS
Your Price: $698
Regular Price: Comp. Value: $1,049

The KitchenAid KDFS224SPS is the lowest-priced KitchenAid dishwasher Abt lists: a 47 dBA, 13-place-setting machine with a third-level utensil rack and the ProWash sensor cycle.

The 224 gets you the part of KitchenAid that does not change as you spend more: stainless steel tub, PrintShield finish, and a ProWash cycle that, in KitchenAid's words, uses sensors to measure soil levels and adapts wash time and water temperature. Over 30 wash jets across three wash arms and a Triple Filtration System keep the wash water clean.

What you give up is specific. At 47 dBA it is the loudest KitchenAid in this guide, six decibels above the 324. It holds 13 place settings where every step up holds 15 or 16. And the third level is a utensil rack for silverware and serving tools, not the jet-cleaned racks that start at the 324.

That is a fair trade in a closed kitchen, a rental or a first remodel. Of the five picks, it is also the only one that comes in White and Black as well as stainless.

Good fit if

A first KitchenAid, a rental or flip, or a closed kitchen where price matters more than 6 dBA and 2 place settings.

Think twice if

It is the loudest of the five at 47 dBA and holds the fewest place settings (13). Check the live price against the 324 before deciding — the gap between the two can be smaller than it looks.

2 Tier 324 41 dBA · 15 place settings

Quietest KitchenAid Dishwasher at Abt KitchenAid KDFS324SPS
Your Price: $898
Regular Price: Comp. Value: $1,199

The KitchenAid KDFS324SPS is the quietest KitchenAid Abt currently lists: 41 dBA, 15 place settings, 40+ wash jets and a third-level jet rack.

Six decibels is two doublings of sound power, so the 324's 41 dBA is about a quarter of the sound power of the 224's 47 dBA. In an open kitchen, that is the number that matters, and it is why this is the tier to start with if your dishwasher shares air with your living room.

The third level changes too. Where the 224 has a rack that holds utensils, the 324's third level jet rack uses dedicated wash jets to clean mugs and bowls. With 40+ jets across three arms, three versatile racks and an adjustable upper rack, capacity rises to 15 place settings.

The catch is that the next tier up is louder. KitchenAid's 424 adds capacity, a bigger tub and a 360° Max Jets rack, and it does so at 44 dBA. If quiet is the priority, you stop here.

Good fit if

Open-plan kitchens, and anyone who runs the dishwasher in the evening while the room is in use.

Think twice if

It holds 15 place settings against 16 higher up — check the live price against the 424 before you decide.

3 Tier 424 44 dBA · 16 place settings

Best Value KitchenAid Dishwasher KitchenAid KDFS424SPS
Your Price: $898
Regular Price: Comp. Value: $1,349

The KitchenAid KDFS424SPS is where KitchenAid's big-capacity features start: 16 place settings, a 7.25 cu. ft. MaxTub and the 360° Max Jets third rack at 44 dBA.

KitchenAid says its 360° Max Jets third rack is the only third rack with 360° wash jets. It cleans glasses, mugs and bowls inside and out, and KitchenAid says it fits 10 extra glasses and mugs compared with its earlier KDTE204K and KDFE204K models. That frees room below for pots and plates.

The tub grows with it. The MaxTub offers 7.25 cu. ft. of usable space, which KitchenAid calls its largest dishwasher tub, with 50+ wash jets and True Self-Cleaning Filtration, which eliminates manual filter cleaning by continuously circulating clean water.

Good fit if

Big households and anyone who entertains: the lowest tier with 16 place settings, a MaxTub and a jet-cleaned 360° third rack.

Think twice if

It is 3 dBA louder than the 324. Compare it against the 624 on live pricing before you decide — the gap between them may be smaller than it looks.

4 Tier 624 44 dBA · 16 place settings

Best Drying KitchenAid Dishwasher KitchenAid KDPS624SPS
Your Price: $998
Regular Price: Comp. Value: $1,449

The KitchenAid KDPS624SPS is the one to buy for drying: Advanced ProDry with a ProDry Max option, automatic door-open dry and hidden top controls at 44 dBA.

Advanced ProDry gets dishes table-ready by combining heating elements, fans and natural ventilation at the end of the cycle, which KitchenAid calls its driest dry. KitchenAid describes the tier below (ProDry) as a heating element, water repellent tech and ventilation, so the fans are the difference. The ProDry Max option on the 624 extends the drying cycle for loads that need extra time.

The rest of the machine matches the 424: 16 place settings, a 7.25 cu. ft. MaxTub, 50+ wash jets, the 360° Max Jets third rack and True Self-Cleaning Filtration. The change you will notice every day is the controls. They move from the front of the door to a hidden top edge, with a color-changing indicator light on the door front showing cycle progress.

Good fit if

Anyone who washes a lot of plastic, and anyone who wants the controls out of sight.

Think twice if

The cycle ends with the door opened slightly to release moisture, so do not stack anything in its path. If your loads are mostly glass and ceramic, the 424's ProDry is likely enough and costs less.

5 Tier 724 44 dBA · 16 place settings

Best Premium KitchenAid Dishwasher KitchenAid KDPS724SPS
Your Price: $1,198
Regular Price: Comp. Value: $1,649

The KitchenAid KDPS724SPS is the 624 with ultra-bright LED interior lighting and a Normal Quick Wash cycle added: the same 44 dBA, 16 place settings, MaxTub, 360° Max Jets rack and Advanced ProDry.

On paper the 724 and 624 are the same washer. Both are 44 dBA, 16 place settings, 50+ jets, a 7.25 cu. ft. MaxTub, a 360° Max Jets third rack, Advanced ProDry and True Self-Cleaning Filtration with top controls and a pocket handle. The 724 adds two things.

Ultra-bright LED interior lighting turns on when the door is open. The Normal Quick Wash cycle, which KitchenAid says cleans over an hour faster than the average normal cycle, is meant for keeping up with a kitchen full of guests. Four stemware holders in the middle rack and fold-down tines in the middle and lower racks are shared with the 624's feature set.

It is made in Findlay, Ohio, and Abt's listing notes Wi-Fi: No.

Customer review
"I got the LED light version, which is a nice to have perk but I don't really seem to notice it very often, so the model without it may be the better economical purchase."
From a KitchenAid.com customer review of the 724 tier
Good fit if

A dim kitchen, daily Normal-cycle runs, or a buyer who simply wants KitchenAid's fullest feature list.

Think twice if

The step up from the 624 buys lighting and a faster Normal cycle; noise, capacity, drying and racks match. Unless those two matter to you, the 624 is the better buy.

"It is very quiet and we love that it projects the time remaining in the cycle onto the floor so you know when it will be finished."
From a KitchenAid.com customer review of the KDTF924PPS

Why it isn't a pick

Abt's product page for the stainless KDTF924PPS says it is no longer available. We could not confirm the panel-ready KDTF924PPA is in stock either. A guide that recommends a dishwasher you cannot buy is not much use, so it sits here instead of in the picks.

What to do instead

  • The 324 is the quietest KitchenAid we can point you to: 41 dBA, 2 dBA from the flush model.
  • Ask a specialist whether the KDTF924 is available: 800-860-3577.
  • See KitchenAid's full range on kitchenaid.com.

      Frequently asked questions

The questions shoppers ask most about KitchenAid dishwashers, each answered in a paragraph.

Each tier changes capacity, racks, drying or noise. The 224 is 47 dBA with 13 place settings and a utensil rack. The 324 is 41 dBA with 15 place settings and a jet-cleaned third rack. The 424 moves to 16 place settings, a MaxTub and the 360° Max Jets third rack at 44 dBA. The 624 adds Advanced ProDry and hidden top controls. The 724 adds LED interior lighting and a Normal Quick Wash cycle.

KitchenAid's quietest is the flush-to-cabinet KDTF924 at 39 dBA, but Abt shows the stainless KDTF924PPS as no longer available. Of the five picks, the 324 is quietest at 41 dBA, then the 424, 624 and 724 at 44 dBA, and the 224 at 47 dBA.

Not past the 324. The 324 is rated 41 dBA, and the 424, 624 and 724 are rated 44 dBA. What you pay for above the 324 is capacity, a 360° Max Jets third rack, drying and lighting.

It is KitchenAid's third rack with 360° wash jets, which KitchenAid says is the only one of its kind. It cleans glasses, mugs and bowls inside and out, has a removable utensil caddy, and fits 10 extra glasses and mugs compared with KitchenAid's earlier KDTE204K and KDFE204K models. It is standard on the 424, 624 and 724.

ProDry combines a heating element, water repellent tech and natural ventilation. Advanced ProDry combines heating elements, fans and natural ventilation, which KitchenAid calls its driest dry, and adds a ProDry Max option that extends the drying cycle. ProDry is on the 224, 324 and 424; Advanced ProDry is on the 624 and 724.

PrintShield is a specialized coating on KitchenAid's stainless steel that resists smudges and fingerprints. It cleans with just water and a soft cloth. All five picks are available in PrintShield Stainless.

The MaxTub is KitchenAid's largest dishwasher tub, 7.25 cu. ft. of usable space, according to KitchenAid. It is on the 424, 624 and 724, and it makes room for the 360° Max Jets third rack.

Not on these. The Abt and retailer spec sheets for the five picks list no Wi-Fi or app control, and Abt's listing for the 724 says Wi-Fi: No.

As last captured, from for the 224 to for the 324, for the 424, for the 624 and for the 724, all in stainless steel. Check live pricing before you buy. Juniper and Black Ore usually cost more.

KitchenAid's range is 39 dBA (the flush KDTF924) to 47 dBA (the 224). Bosch's, per its step-up chart, is 38 dBA (Benchmark) to 48 dBA (100 Series). Both brands have 44 dBA models, and at 41 to 42 dBA you have KitchenAid's 324 and Bosch's 800 Series.
