With an active inReach plan and LTE-M coverage, you can make voice calls through the Messenger Calls app to another inReach-capable device or someone who has set up the Garmin Messenger app on a compatible smartphone. Two-way messaging is available over LTE or an established satellite link. Messaging setup requires Garmin Messenger on a compatible smartphone. LTE-M does not provide a phone number, traditional voice calls or SMS, and coverage is not available in all regions.

Satellite coverage is limited to the continental U.S., parts of Canada and most of Europe; it is not global. To connect, stop moving and follow the on-screen positioning instructions. Trees, terrain or buildings may block the signal and require moving to a clearer location. Establishing a connection can take 30 seconds or more of good signal strength. An active inReach plan is required, and some jurisdictions regulate or prohibit satellite communication devices.

LiveTrack lets designated friends and family follow your activity. With an active inReach plan, an available LTE connection can keep a LiveTrack session going if the connection to your phone is lost. LiveTrack location sharing is not supported over satellite, and cellular availability depends on coverage and signal quality.
